    Vena sighed, grabbed herself some food, and sat down. "Clearly I'm not making good progress on being a person, huh?"

    "Do I have to eat?"

    "I don't think it matters too much. Whatever's easier."

    When they arrived at the breakfast area, Vena eyed the food warily.

    "Probably. But I'm not sure that I need to. I didn't sleep last night, anyway. Where are we going?"

    They caught Lilyana and Eddie on their way out. "You going to eat too?" Vena asked them.

    "No." She smiled back, slightly. "I think you're worrying about me too much. Come on, you should probably get something to eat."

    "No. I just wasn't really tired. And... there's just too much to think about, I guess."

    "...No. I couldn't."

    When Rallohir woke up, he found Vena awake, sitting just as she had been before he had gone to sleep. @Rallohir

    "The Stacic trance... thing. I need a better name for it."

    "I guess I can slip back by accident if I was recently in it for a while. I'll be vigilant of that." He wilted somewhat.

    Only seconds later, the glow faded and he awoke. "That was... odd."

    TAAron sat back, watching her with concern. Then, oddly, his eyes closed, and he began to glow immediately. It usually took him at least a few seconds to enter the other state.

    "You don't seem fine. I shouldn't have... I'm sorry."

    "...Sorry. I would have told you what I was going to try to do, but I didn't want to lose my progress."

    It had already apparently latched onto her. When she moved back, there was a glowing line connecting her to the strange orb. Suddenly, TAAron's eyes opened. "It worked!" The words were spoken out loud, but also rang in Rue's mind. However, all of the light immediately faded, and the connection broke. TAAron smiled at Rue. "I figured it out!"

    A small tendril of light reached toward her from it.

    Agonizingly slowly, the glow moved off of his hand, separating into a distinct ball of light.

    He was remarkably still. The glow seemed to begin coalescing around one of his hands, which was resting on the table.

    He continued in that state for a while, much longer that she had ever seen him do before.

    TAAron nodded, then retreated into himself as he had done now many times. He closed his eyes, then opened them into a strange view of the world, with a crystalline cast and caustic-like light patterns. White light rose from him, and he began to test at his capabilities.

    "Okay. I should practice my magic, then. See if I can get some sort of functional piece of energy separate from the rest." "...What?"

    "Sure! About how long do you think that would take?"
