    "Yes, I think you might. Do you have any idea what caused them?"

    "Well, I didn't catch most of it myself. It just seemed like there was some sort of conflict, and someone ended up unconscious."

    He frowned. "You mean the commotion earlier? It's fine, I don't think that was your fault."

    "No, but I don't really have any place pressing to be."

    "I've been in this dining hall for a while now."

    "We have. I'm TAAron. You're Vyla, right?"

    He waved back.

    TAAron approached her, figuring he might as well talk to people as he was unoccupied. "Hi! You new here?"

    She laughed. "Anything else you want to test?"

    "I think so. I could feel the threads in your shirt. And..." She smiled slightly. "Your lips are very soft."

    "I mean... it was definitely very flavorful."

    "No, but I can read your lips!" she called.

    "Yes," she said immediately. "That is strange."

    "Right, right." She finally pulled away completely. They had been very, very close. "Let's go, then."

    Strangely, Vena wasn't really blushing at all. Her eyes remained the striking blue, and they almost seemed to glow with hidden energy. "Feel free." She gave him another, softer kiss that still lingered for an extended moment. "What now?"

    Then, Vena took a deep breath, leaned forward, and kissed him back. It was firm, strong, even passionate. She wrapped her arms around his neck, and pressed her body into his. It lasted much longer than the first had. When she finally pulled away, she beamed. "Thank you for caring."

    When he pulled away, Vena's eyes were wide, and her breathing had sped up. She seemed shocked, almost panicked.

    Vena looked right back into his. Then, slowly, she stepped toward him so they were directly face to face, inches apart. Her expression was tense, and her eyes were full of fear and conflict.

    She remained frozen. As he watched, her eyes shifted to a beautiful cobalt blue.
