  1. "Who is it that would get hurt, exactly?"
  2. "Anything I could do would most likely be able to be disregarded as an illusion."
  3. Lerac shrugged. "I assure you it's true. Like I said, one of my reasons for being here was to check in on TAAron. Generally, those who have died and are revived end up... rather scarred. I'd guess his well-being is connected to this amnesia."
  4. "He was killed, and later restored." TAAron was shocked. "You're telling me I've somehow forgotten all of this?"
  5. "What is it you wish me to explain?"
  6. "My name is Lerac. I am the avatar of Death." TAAron's expression shifted from confusion to concern.
  7. "No. I simply came here because I was interested in how he was faring. It's rare for one of my master's former subjects to be so... unaffected."
  8. The figure examined them. "He does know me. But... I don't think he remembers. Interesting." "What?" TAAron was clearly lost.
  9. "Just to talk," the figure said, voice quiet and soft. "It's been a while, TAAron. How have you been?" TAAron got a closer look at the figure, and seemed perplexed. "I don't know you." @Edema Rue
  10. A figure appeared then. Not simply blinking into existence, but instead standing at the edge of their vision, so when then looked right at him it was as though he was always there. He wore a dark cloak and carried a knife that seemed to shift, leaving afterimages whenever it moved. TAAron looked uneasy. "Who are you?"
  11. "I'm not doing anything... Do you feel that?"
  12. "Good." The two of them then felt something strange. A combination of a healing warmth and a sharp, foreboding chill. It was disconcerting, and to TAAron... oddly familiar.
  13. "Try not to die yourself," he said with a slight smile.
  14. "You'll definitely hurt if you never care for anyone. I couldn't tell you how to stop, anyway."
  15. "No. No, I think it still has worth. I just don't want to hurt you. You deserve better than what your past has brought you."
  16. "If it ends up being more bad than good... I'd have failed. And in that case, I hope someday you'll find someone who deserves your care." He looked down, no longer seeming quite so positive.
  17. "I will do my best to make sure that that is not the case. I think it's worth a try."
  18. "No. You deserve the good that comes from trust and care."
  19. "I find it feels good to care, and be cared about. You deserve that, and any support I can give you."
  20. "It's not something you can really stop. And it's not something I think you should. I have no intention to hurt you, and I will do my very best to make sure I never do. Maybe... give caring a shot?"
  21. TAAron laughed. "That's a roundabout way of saying you care too. Thank you."
  22. TAAron had a moment of thought. "Perhaps you're right about that, somewhat. People you care about can hurt you more easily. But I think it's worth the risk, sometimes." He gave her a very genuine smile.
  23. "I find that it's very healthy to care about people. And you do matter. You always have, and you always will."
