  1. "Well, maybe they can, maybe they can't. But for now I think we both could do to stop trying, if only for a few minutes."
  2. He smiled. "Thank you." Then he continued to look off into the distance.
  3. "If I die," he said quietly, "and I'm not saying I will, but if I do... I'll be glad to have had a friend like you, Rue."
  4. After a moment, TAAron sat down on the grass, continuing to look out on the landscape. He shivered in a cold gust of wind.
  5. His expression shifted, and it was difficult to discern. Uncertain? Afraid, perhaps? He continued to be silent, watching the mountains.
  6. Jamie blinked. "Uh, I tried making some adjustments. I might have to make some more at some point, if these ones don't... work out." He seemed rather apprehensive at the change.
  7. Jamie shuddered. That will have to be... fixed. He reached for her control panel, opening it with a screwdriver he had in his pocket. He connected to it with a small interfacing tablet and accessed the code. It was a neural network, naturally, and a very complex one at that. It would probably take several tries adjusting the nodes to work out how to put Cebe back to normal. For now, he adjusted some values mostly at random, though he stayed as clear as possible from the ones controlling her physical movement. That wasn't the problem. When he was done, he powered her back on.
  8. He did the same, looking thoughtful.
  9. "No, I'm just saying I don't know what to do. I'm sorry."
  10. "Me too. I wish there had been a better way..." He shook his head. "Anyway, I wouldn't know how to make something like that, not to mention is need a soul to use and potentially sacrifice."
  11. "Tors was a trident made of Stacis crystal. But the crystal was infused with the soul of a person by Bonum. And... she gave up her life trying to kill Malum. She almost did, and what was left of Bonum finished him off."
  12. "Well, like I said, the other thing I know hurt him was Tors. But that seems like it wouldn't be... practical to replicate."
  13. "That seems... unlikely. But not necessarily impossible."
  14. Anything that could happen with Sandy and Crickets? @Nameless*
  15. "I suppose so. But I'm kind of at a loss. The only two things I've seen hurt one of my gods is a uniquely crafted entity and the other god."
  16. "I hope so. I'd rather not die again, myself." He chuckled lightly.
  17. "I'm not sure... Did he say anything about how to do it?"
  18. "I don't know. I'm the only living being left from my world."
  19. "Thanks. Point is, I don't know how we'll do this."
  20. "I have no idea, honestly. I think Tors was able to do some damage to Malum, but I don't know if that would work to destroy a soul. And Tors... was unique." A hint of pain and grief crossed his expression.
  21. "I'm sorry to hear that. Are you sure there's nothing I can do for you?"
