  1. "Ow." He came back to himself. "Sorry."
  2. "Maybe... you latched onto me, and used me as your point of development somehow. So you just picked me out arbitrarily because I'm around you the most often. So... maybe it'll go away after a bit."
  3. He reddened slightly again. "Do you really... Why?" He put his face in his hands and groaned. "This is all ridiculous."
  4. Jamie continued to stare, torn between doubt and astonishment. "This has gone too far. I never meant to... I never even considered..."
  5. He turned a bit red. "I programmed you to imitate emotions. But... the network is self-adjusting, and it's gotten a lot more complicated..." He shook his head. "It still isn't possible. It shouldn't be."
  6. He approached her tentatively. "Are you really... feeling things? You're not just imitating them?"
  7. Jamie looked at her, his... accidental creation, and something within him shifted. As worried and confused as he was, he hated seeing her that way even more. His expression softened. "I'm sorry, Cebe. I just don't know what to do."
  8. "You're broken, Cebe! I need to fix you! This isn't right."
  9. Jamie blinked, caught off guard by the attack and sudden actions. "Ow... Cebe, I'm fine. It's just a bloody nose. Why did you hit me?" He pulled himself out of her grasp, tumbling to the ground before standing up and staring at her again. "What is going on with you?"
  10. Jamie jumped back in shock. "What? I... This is insane. I need to... but what if I make it worse again?" He examined her, confused, frustrated, and perhaps a little afraid. "Look, I don't know what you think is happening, or what you think you're feeling, but this is too far. You're a machine, Cebe." Jamie found that his heart was pounding. He had meant to make himself a robot friend, or something, not a person. Surely she wasn't really human, was she? I have to fix this. He hesitantly reached for her power switch again.
  11. Jamie connected to her control panel again. He again messed with some values of the nodes, prioritizing the ones that had the most connections. He knew this would seriously alter her function one way or another, so he was sure to make a backup just in case. He just hoped that it would move her away from this... strange direction. He once again powered Cebe on.
  12. starreste ti? So there's just someone nearby making a lot of noise?
  13. He seemed to retreat further into himself this time.
  14. Jamie stared at her. What have I done? "I... I ought to take those adjustments now." His voice came out strained and tense. "I think you're a little confused. I'll fix you up." He reached to shut off her power again.
  15. He did not seem to hear her. He just remained distant and vacant.
