    TAAron stayed with her in silence for a while. Then, suddenly, he breathed in sharply.

    "What do you want to do?"

    He stayed there, holding her hand.

    "Right. Well... don't do it again. Please. And if you get an offer, tell me."

    He took a long, deep breath. "What was the deal?"

    TAAron froze. "What?" His voice was quiet and tense.

    "What is it?"
  8. The Aspiring Archivist
    He followed her gaze.

    "And also, if I can connect to the spirit when it emerges, I might be able to convince it to leave you."

    "She said you won't die. But also, to not take any deals you're offered. Something to do with a spirit from a book. If you did, you could be possessed."

    He took her hand. "Essa told me some things."

    Lerac stood as he entered and walked over to him. "What happened to you?" He had an aura around him of comforting warmth mixed with deathly cold. They conflicted, making a shocking and sickening effect to someone new to it. TAAron took in the new arrival for a moment before looking back at Haly. "I'm sorry. How are you feeling?"

    "Hey, Haly. Any luck?" He glanced at Lerac, who shook his head. "There's nothing to heal. She's been changed, in a way, but not hurt."

    TAAron appeared in the infirmary.

    He sighed, then started to walk to find Haly before remembering that he could find her magically.

    "Okay. Well... thank you."

    He nodded. "Is there anything else you know?"

    "How can I communicate with it?"

    "Is there a way to return her to normal?"

    "Deals? Who might possess her?"

    TAAron waited for her to elaborate.
