"Are you sure?" She looked him over, still appearing frightened. The illusion she had placed on herself had not been restored; apparently it had been forgotten.
Julie yelped, and the illusion vanished, leaving the room jarringly dark, small, and cold. She rushed to his side, once again looking tired and disheveled. And now, frightened.
"Daniel! Are you okay? What's happening?"
"Hm." She closed her eyes for a moment, concentrating. The room around then suddenly burst into light, the ceiling opening to sky and the walls vanishing as a peaceful forest unraveled around them. The sights, the sounds, even the smell of the air were shifted. It seemed too real to be a construct.
She glanced at him for a moment, expression difficult to read. Then her hair subtly neatened, and her general appearance got less disheveled. The transition was somehow easy to miss, but the change was significant.
