  1. "Well, the help was magically assisted."
  2. "That's great! It's certainly better than I did in a day." She gave his arm a small excited squeeze, then released it.
  3. "Mae," he said quietly. "I don't want you to keep getting hurt."
  4. "I wonder..." She reached out and took his arm. A connection, like the one from earlier that day, opened. Daniel felt like he could better understand the way she imagined the fire, and let the desk be aflame without controlling each aspect of its form and motion.
  5. The desk went up in flames, and they felt a wave of heat as it flickered and spat.
  6. She walked up next to him. "Okay, what should I try?"
  7. She blushed. "...If you say so."
  8. "This is nice. You're doing really well."
  9. Julie just watched him, smiling to herself.
  10. "A lot. You can't really physically do or change anything, thought you can make things appear real as much as the senses and be tricked."
  11. "Nice!" She beamed at him.
  12. "They do not fear, but only because they cannot. Humans are the only life on this planet that has found meaning in life, and death." @Ookla the Lotus
  13. "Why is the word blue? Was it dyed, is it just a unique feature of the wood itself?" She frowned. "I guess I misspoke. You kind of need to know that you're just seeing it, but at the same time you imagine that whatever you are making appear to be true was always the case."
  14. "Is there weakness in expressing emotion? The life of a flower, as we see it, is much more of a lie than the life of a human. To allow yourself to the truth is a strong thing indeed."
  15. "Don't think about trying to change it. Think about changing what you see, and what that means."
  16. "It's similar, but maybe a bit harder."
  17. "I once made a cat with seven legs."
  18. "Sounds of life, growth, death. Air, sunlight, and water made solid into a structure that is so perfectly imbalanced as to be called natural."
  19. "None of them. It's an arbitrary metric."
  20. "It depends. I guess I don't really use it much, I just practice doing it arbitrarily."
