  1. "You won't. It's okay." He spoke as calmly and comfortingly as he could.
  2. "I'm sorry."
  3. "I'm okay right now, I think. Are you?" --- "It scares me a bit..." @Ookla the foolish
  4. "What's happening?"
  5. "Aydri?"
  6. He was motionless. He seemed to be breathing, but only barely.
  7. "Cold..." She trailed off, thinking about his vision. It died, leaving behind smoldering ash. Cedar was still on the ground nearby.
  8. It shrieked.
  9. "Must have just been a gust from outside... It's very cold out there." It hissed and spat sparks, then attacked her. A burning sensation overwhelmed her arm and quickly spread into the rest of her body.
  10. It paused, then bolted backwards, towards Cedar.
  11. Before anything happened, a rush of cold air flowed into the room. Julie shivered. --- It retreated quickly. @Ookla the Prehistoric
  12. "How unfortunate. Well, I suppose there's no going back at this point. Go ahead, let me finish it off. It'll be less painful that way." Cedar collapsed.
  13. As if on cue, Cedar doubled over and began to cough smoke. "Oh dear."
  14. "Uh. I think so?"
  15. "I doubt that. He's been showing signs of permanent damage, yes?"
  16. "I burned him, deeply. You may as well let me finish consuming."
  17. "And how do you plan to do that?" "Um... Maybe? If you want to."
  18. "Why are you here..." The thing whispered. --- "...Huh. Interesting." Julie laughed. "Sorry, I've just made this awkward." @Ookla the Prehistoric
  19. "I just keep thinking that I haven't... kissed anyone before." She went a bright red. "Aydri... We are not letting it attack you."
  20. "It doesn't mean anything, really. It's a bit silly." The thing approached slightly again, though it seemed... wary.
  21. "Nothing..."
  22. Eventually, they once again saw the strange ball of fire and smoke. It hissed.
  23. She went slightly red again.
  24. There was lots of charred earth, more than around the paths that criss-crossed the hills. @Ookla the Prehistoric
