    The golden light around him pulsed. It was unfamiliar to Haly. "It's not. But thank you."

    In a desperate attempt, TAAron grabbed Rue's hand and tried to move some of his magical energy into her. He couldn't fuel her abilities, or directly fend off whatever was being done to her, but maybe he could isolate her soul from the effects.

    TAAron froze as his glow grew brighter. What could he do? Fight the Inquisitors? His magic wasn't for combat...

    "Rue?" He held her up. "Please, stay with me here. We need to figure out what to do. Elariel wants to go to other worlds, and he wants us to 'guide' him. I'm worried about all this..."
