For some reason, this made her hopeful, or excited.
It was a very small, delicate woman. She smiled absently. “Welcome, travelers. Come in.” She held up a flat palm face downward, and a door grew downward from it, partially sunk into the floor with stairs.
“Up ahead.” Kealie stopped and threw out her arms to block Quest from going further. The floor in front of her feet creaked ominously.
”That’s right,” said a high, flutey voice. “I’m right here.”
“Something’s ahead,” Kealie told him. “It’s alive. Eej warned me because I can’t change it. Oh, and from now on, careful where you step. I might change stuff.”
Haly dropped down next to him, worried. “Get up. You have to get up! Come on. Just a little longer,” she begged. “You’ll be okay. Please, don’t die.”
Sykel rolled her eyes and gave Lerac a ‘see?’ look.
