    “Not much less. And I would have missed out on this.” Mitis watched happily. She hadn’t smiled so much in at least a week.

    She shook her head silently. “I don’t know. I don’t think it’s smart if I think about it very long.” She grinned. “Yep. Stocked up when Haly’s powers got sealed up.” She pulled a whole bag of marshmallows out of her bag, ripped it open, and dumped them all out for Shark.

    She stroked his head. “You have a wonderful grasp on our language, too. You must be very smart.” “A lot. Like, a lot a lot. I don’t know—how much is a lot?”

    Mitis laughed, then walked over—still wobbly—and crouched by him. “You’ve defeated many hordes, I can tell.” “That’s not your fault. It’s okay.”

    “Why? Are you sorry, I mean.”

    “Do you think it’s a soul thing?” @That1Cellist I need Shark so Mitis can get attached to him like a stuffed animal

    “You zoned out again. I had to shove you.”

    She shoved him harder. “TAARON!”

    Haly shook his arm. “Hey.” Mitis smiled in delight. “Hi! I’m Haly’s friend Mitis. It’s great to meet you! Yes, I love eating, and no, I’m not a bad guy. Who are you?”

    She nodded and scooted over to TAAron. “You’re doing it again.”

    I found out it’s next week XD. Haven’t finished it yet. Huge relief, actually.

    Abihal joined them, setting her flute aside.

    “What’s going on?” Haly asked. ”Oh my… is that a bunny?” Mitis pointed at Shark, eyes wide. @That1Cellist

    “Are you… you’re going to be okay, though?” The agents led them away to a cell. There were three different rooms in it, all impenetrable. Mitis was already there, still recovering in the corner. Essa was not.

    Others grabbed him and pulled him away, toward Haly, Lerac, and Wynn. “TAAron…” Haly’s eyes were fearful. “What happened?”

    She sat up, panic in her eyes. “TAAron! No, stop!” Several agents grabbed Lerac. The lead agent laughed. “I know how this ends.” An arrow hit TAAron in the back.

    “We don’t have any rewards he’d care for at the moment.”

    The lead agent waved her hand. The agent with Haly took another knife from inside his jacket and stabbed her in the stomach. “Stop, or it’ll be worse,” the agent warned.

    “We have Haly,” the agent informed him, waving a hand to where another did, indeed, have a knife to her throat. “Surrender or she dies.” The agents around her paused to watch TAAron.
  25. Bird Furious
    The agent tilted her head and smiled. “That’s against principle, dear. We help here and there—we don’t rewrite the story. Enjoy it while it lasts, when it comes.” Agents walked confidently up to Wynn to escort her out of the room.
