  1. “I guess.” A young, Haly-age agent with starry eyes skipped in. “Hi! Please tell me I didn’t miss my cue!”
  2. “No qualms” YES. As long as I know the people around me won’t look at me weird. Sometimes, though, that’s part of the fun! You are a platypus. I’m sorry I can’t really do this well XD
  3. “Yeah. Yeah, for sure.” Her voice lacked conviction. “We should hurry.”
  4. She shook her head. “It won’t. I mean, you won’t. I guess I’ll believe it when I die eighty years old.”
  5. Hi hi hi! Today was a good day! And I have so much I need to write but I wrote this for a school assignment and so here it is. (Also, those are not my real initials, which is why I left them in. It’s my persona that I don’t know why I have, but she’s like… me ish.)

Right now it’s called Adder Carslile because that’s his name, but I don’t know how long I’ll keep the title. Anyway.

    Spoiler

If you’re really interested in something this old, just go ahead and DM me :)

  6. “We don’t need two people zoning out or breaking down all over the place. I’m fine.”
  7. “Yes, of course. We’ll kill him and go back to the clinic and life will be good. I’m fine.” But there was a glint in her eye that hinted at panic.
  8. She took a deep breath, wiped away her tears, and straightened. Her face composed. “I’m sorry, I don’t know what that was.”
  9. “Not without Shark,” Mitis chimed in. “We have to find him first.”
  10. She shook her head, too choked up to speak. Hot tears stung her eyes.
  11. “One of us will. Then both of us will, body or soul. It doesn’t end well, TAAron. Prequels, sequels, sequel series… it doesn’t end. There’s always more, and it piles up like paperwork late Friday or a bucket list on bed rest…”
  12. “I know. But TAAron…” she looked up at him, eyes red, and whispered, “But I don’t want to die.”
  13. “That doesn’t matter. It just guarantees we die together. That’s the only way out! Death or distancing ourselves from everything we love—exile. It doesn’t end, it doesn’t.” A large tear rolled down her cheek.
  14. “There will be more.” Haly was almost in tears now. “There’s always more—I’ve seen it. It’s like we’re racehorses, and our managers just want more and more out of us. Don’t you get it, TAAron? They’ll run us until we drop dead in the saddle. Dead. There is no end!”
  15. “It will. When we die trying to face a threat that’s just too big.”
  16. She slumped into a chair. “Yeah, I know. But then there will be something else, probably something worse, and it’s never going to end, and we’ll just keep going like hamsters in those plastic balls—we can run as far as we want, but we’ll never get anywhere.”
  17. She nodded in agreement, then hummed a few notes. “He better get here soon.”
  18. “It’s… I just…” she paced as she spoke. “I don’t know what’s going on. Rylla’s not here anymore, so these must be my feelings, and I don’t feel like this ever and I don’t know what’s going on and it’s like we have enemies on every side and there’s nothing I can do and it keeps getting worse and worse and worse…”
  19. “I don’t know. I don’t know if I mean that.”
  20. She dropped her head in her hands and paced. “I don’t know! I don’t know and I wish it would all stop and we could just breathe for three days with no crises and no monsters trying to kill is and no agents trying to put our story in peril and I hate all of this and I wish I was dead.”
  21. Abihal paced over to the fire and watched it dance, resting on hand on the mantle, the other holding her flute. “That fact always cramps everything.”
  22. “It’s… it’s fine. Don’t be sorry. It’s not your fault. I… it just feels slippery, is all.”
  23. “NO. Do you have any idea—his retribution would be swift and crushing. No. That’s out. Not an option.”
  24. She shivered. “That’s what scares me.”
