    Qodi didn’t understand. She didn’t let go, but didn’t bite further.

    Qodi could feel that there was something different about her, but she couldn’t tell what. She could tell it was transferred by bite, though. The speedy rabbit went to bite the monster as soon as Shoe finishes swinging.

    Qodi didn’t get stabbed— she just ate them. I’m hoping it’ll work a little differently and give her more powers. Basically they teleported to a mountain and then to a castle to find the library for some reason. I introduced some characters and they squabbled over a magic bunny.

    I won’t go stabby stab! Qodi dashed over and took a bite from each of the blades, then launched herself at the monster, her size rapidly expanding to four times her regular. Only the size of a large cat. But still.

    Beosta swore under her breath. “Whatever,” she growled. “Idiot bacon man.”

    Beosta folded her arms. “Well?” Gail did not want to be the bearer of bad news.

    Gail nodded and managed a smile. “Thank you.” /Back to whatever we were doing before,/ Qodi dismissed. /I will take care of Beotha.

    She closed her eyes. She liked being near him, and she liked the way he pulled her closer like that. It was very calming.

    “I…” Qodi felt bad. It was clear the measly human needed her. /Save the medallion. Tell Beosta there’s not a way. We can revisit this if need be. Beosta needs to learn manners anyway./

    She smiled and leaned on his shoulder again. “You’re welcome.” And then it was somehow worth it.

    She grabbed that as well, then settled next to him again.

    Gail looked down. But… Stop being dumb. It doesn’t matter what you want. “I can’t.” That was the truth. She’d thought the bonds couldn’t be broken.

    She sat too, and ate food as well. “Do you think you should go to the nurse?”

    “I’ll be right back,” she said anyway. She came right back with her arms full of random food.

    “No,” she said quickly. “No, I’ll find something in the fridge.”

    Yes /I understand humeech./ Qodi paused, whiskers quivering. /I don’t know why. I’m guessing that’s the only way Beosta can inherit my Forevaent./
