    ITS NOT A BIRD WHAT THE CHASMS Its a stoat/ mink like a ferret Livetha curled up at the top of Bertha’s head. “I’m in charge!”she squeaked.

    “Yeah.” Mitis stepped down to where Haly was and leaned next to her. “What’s on your mind?” “You’re sure it’ll work?” “Getting you back? Yeah, pretty darn.”

    What is this conversation XD She frowned. “Plot? …and she can do cool stuff?”

    Beotha panicked and pulled the stoat out of her hair. “What… so does that mean she can just do whatever?”
  5. Bird Furious
    Halt’s next memory deposited them on the deck of a ship sailing on metallic seas again. An old grizzled man was at the helm, and Mitis— with her haircut again and looking several years older, dressed exactly like a pirate— chatted with him. Haly was at the railing, watching the horizon with thorough contentedness.

    Beosta blanched. “Uh… how about… can you make Livetha stronger?”

    “No,” she muttered. “I don’t wanna murder Gail. Are you a narrator too?”

    “So was I.” She cringed, then smiled again. “It makes me want to hug you.” She did. (The actual one, not memory)

    @SpiritOfWraths post Beotha stared at him, feeling very guilty.

    “You’re adorable,” she told him, grinning hugely. This was her favorite dream by far.

    “Bet,” she said. She’d intentionally not put anything in the contract that would restrict her to a time limit or fix any punishments for failing. Just in case. Livetha chittered inquisitively. “I’ll explain later,” Beotha told her stoat, who climbed back to her perch as a hat.

    Haly grinned, blushing a little. “What were you asking him?”

    Her dream faded.

    “Thanks again,” she said. She brightened when Livetha chittered and pulled herself up to her shoulder. “I don’t miss Beosta,” Gail muttered. Qodi had shrunk to normal size and settled on her shoulder.

    She smiled a little. “It’s… this part isn’t okay. But Mitis got better, and… and the wo st part for me was that I missed you.”

    Beotha was very inauspicious. She petted her stoat.

    Haly let her eyes trace the ballroom below. “Mitis got angry. Really angry. About the slaves. So she killed the nobility.” Finally, the dream unfroze. Mitis yelled a couple things and left. The other slaves, all in a daze, followed her.

    Stars, he wasn’t supposed to wake up yet. She smiled anyway, so she wouldn’t be suspicious. “I hope you slept well. We have things to do.”

    Haly squeezed his hand once before she slipped into a new dream, an awfully familiar one. At the top of the stairs above a ballroom, a large table had been set with lavish food and drink. The ballroom was long since empty now, signs of panic left behind— refreshment tables knocked over, instruments abandoned, sometimes even ladies’ shoes. The top table had not been so lucky. Those who had settled there remained, left to die in pools of their own blood. On the table stood Mitis. She seemed older, or harder. Her hair had grown out and been cut straight and curled, and she wore a uniform just like the people on the dock, except black instead of white. She held a simple dagger, but the anger hadn’t cooled, though all the diners were dead. More slaves lined the room in the same outfits, Haly among them, all staring at her in horror. The moment froze like it always did in her dreams. She wished she could push it on, skip ahead to when they commandeered a ship or even to when Mitis gave her speech, but it wouldn’t move.

    I love when the teacher scares you with a really hard study guide and then all the questions are so easy

      my history teacher does the OPPOSITE

      she gives us SUPER EASY study guides and then the test is like a different language and has stuff that we literally never talked about 😭
