He really didn't want to lose the compass, and the worm hadn't attacked for several minutes... but trying to find it would be way too dangerous. Clutching Illusion in his off hand, he started running again, digging in his bag with his injured arm. Scud. He was losing way too much blood. He didn't. Instead he went off the road to take the turn wider so it wouldn't roll.
