  1. Finally received my copy of Tress in the mail and it's truly a gorgeous looking book. I already knew what the cover looked like, but this shade of green is striking and since it's already my favorite color, it looks even better. The inside print looks nice and it's large and clear enough that I could probably read it without my glasses. I haven't looked at the inside art yet in case of spoilers, but I'll probably start reading it tonight or tomorrow.

  2. I believe there is a mistake in the section that talks about Shallan killing her mother. I'm going to put it in a spoiler just in case as it details events revealed in RoW.
  3. I like this idea. I'm not the most active member on here, but I find it difficult to engage in a lot of the speculative talk that surrounds Brandon's fiction. I think a section dedicated to Intentionally Blank would draw me in a lot more than other topics I've seen on here. It's something that is still Brandon-related but also varies enough that you'll never have a boring topic. I love listening to Dan's food heists, Brandon's late night story ideas, and their random tangents. I only watch them on YouTube so I know I'm missing some episodes. Maybe seeing people talk about episodes that aren't available on YouTube will encourage me to broaden my horizons, so to speak.
  4. So, my leatherbound edition of The Way of Kings arrived and I haven't been this excited about owning a material possession since my childhood Christmas mornings. It didn't occur to me until I went and looked at my receipt that I realized I had ordered an unsigned copy, but the copy that came in appears to be signed (the first volume only). Did I miss something? Maybe I received a signed copy by mistake. Am I just lucky or did he just decide to sign them all? I'm not complaining, trust me. I'm just curious if I'm missing something. Thanks to a friendly user on here, I was able to get my order in for the miniatures and I'm excited for that. My leatherbound copy came shortly after my Hoid Box and I'm excited for the rest of the boxes. I'm still trying to find appropriate places to leave my Hoid stickers that don't involve vandalizing. Also, as I look through my very short posting history, I feel bad that all of my topics seem to be very boring. I'll try to do better. I'm not very good at staying active on forums. This is the most active I've ever been on any forum.
  5. Agreed... sort of. But we see But those are potato thoughts. You can't always trust potato thoughts.
  6. "Let the Vorin believe as they wish—the wise among them will find goodness and solace in their faith; the fools would be fools no matter what they believed." - Jasnah Kholin
  7. Not this time, but sometimes I do. I like slicing my potatoes fairly thin when I fry them, but I've never intentionally made chips. But sometimes cooking, like life, is about adapting and making the best out of your mistakes so sometimes my "Italian" seasoned fried potatoes turn into "Italian" seasoned chips.
  8. Yeah. There's probably a better place for this. But I figured just a general discussion would be less intrusive than if posted it in the wrong spot in a part of the Cosmere forum. I need to better familiarize myself with the forum before creating more topics. I'll do that next time. I just didn't wanna burn my taters.
  9. I was frying up some potatoes and I got to thinking, as I am sometime prone to do. Wouldn't it be interesting to see a Radiant/Spren relationship where the spren is the one who needs to develop and say different oaths? Or maybe it wouldn't be. I have to go. I can hear my potatoes starting to sizzle and I still need to cut the onion.
  10. @NerdyAarakocra I am Lost, but not forgotten. You're awesome! Lift would be proud.
  11. My apologies if I am not posting this in the proper place. I looked around a bit and this seemed the most appropriate. When Brandon started the Kickstarter for all of his miniatures, I wanted to do a full backing, but I wasn't able to at the time. Now I am able to, but the Kickstarter has been closed. I'm bad at keeping up on stuff like this. Does anyone have any information concerning future opportunities to get these figures (especially the larger ones, but I want them all), or if there is an alternative (legitimate) method of getting them? I've done some searching but I can't find anything specific.
  12. There are definitely a lot of holes in that idea, but I'm a sucker for crazy fan theories and this one is gold.
  13. I understand that art, in general, is very subjective when it comes to judging quality and that someone could adore the writing style of an author whom I find positively dull. However, if you're a fantasy reader and can't at least recognize why Pratchett is a master of the genre, do you even have a soul? But seriously, I love that man's work and I haven't even read all of Discworld. Even as an adult (allegedly), I'm a bit of a class clown at heart and there is something special about being able to make fun of something someone loves in a way that makes them feel like you're in on the joke and not just mocking them. You clearly have excellent taste. Thank you.
  14. Thank you all for the welcome. I'm not sure where to start but I'm sure I'll find my way around. I'll see you all out there. So far, I've only read the Mistborn series and the Stormlight Archive but considering I've read each book at least three times (six times for The Way of Kings), I'd have to say that Roshar is my favorite. The Way of Kings was my introduction to Brandon Sanderson before I even knew that the Cosmere was a thing. I'm the sort of person who appreciates a slow pace, even a crawl, and am usually more interested in what is going on in the war room than I am in the war. I like a good action scene as much as the next person and sometimes I'm even in the mood for more action and less story, but I am much more interested in the politics of the action than the action itself.
  15. This is a late introduction because I joined back on April 9th but haven't been active since then. I spent roughly three days trying to figure out a clever screen name and as you can see, I lost because I'm Lost. So now what do I say? I'm a Brandon Sanderson fan, but that's obvious. I'm also an aspiring writer which is different from an aspiring author because an aspiring author writes. It's a fine line to walk and I manage to do it with all of the grace of a two-legged horse. I've joined to stay updated on Brandon's writing, learn more about the Cosmere and what books I should read next, and maybe even find a spot where I can (eventually) share some of my writing. I'm currently reading Proven Guilty by Jim Butcher (I'll probably always have a Dresden book on my 'currently reading' list until I finish the series) and I Am Not A Serial Killer by Dan Wells. I usually have three books going at a time but I'm currently only reading these two. I'm also looking to read more non-fiction, mostly about history, psychology, and philosophy mixed with the occasional biography. This is typically the point in an introduction where I would encourage you to ask me questions if you want to learn more about me but that's boring. Instead, if you welcome me to the community, you should do so while naming a few of your favorite books (because I would never be so cruel as to ask someone to just pick one).
