  1. Haha yep, been around the sanderson/cosmere reddit communities a while now but just came to the forum today.

I'm academically inclined and very analytical and quantitative in my thinking, but my drive is more towards improving society/social relations than an actual thirst for knowledge; I just think being dispassionately systematic is the way to get there. So I'm a combination of Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw but YMMV which is the more pronounced.

My favorite color is light beige. That's basically my way of saying that I'm not a huge fan of colors, I pretty much like everything to be white, but white is not technically a color so light beige is the "closest thing" to white.

Favorite Sanderson book so far has definitely been Oathbringer. I'm just a huge fan of Dalinar as a character so a book super heavily centered on him is pretty neat, pretty pog.

"Some remains here, head stored in cryonics, hope for this to be a Be Right Back rather than an Adieu"

My biggest hobby is unironically debating ethics, politics, and law. Other hobbies include video games (primarily auto battlers, TFT and HS battlegrounds) and chess.

  2. This is an auramancy-based magic system. You pick an area, you infuse it with Intent (time this takes is linearly proportional to size of the area, so doubling the size doubles the duration) and then you bind it to a scroll. Writing certain formulas and runes on the scroll changes the properties inside the area. Those changes can affect anything: the rate at which time passes, the weather, the breathability of air, intensity of light, speed of plant growth, random fireballs popping into existence etc. After an auramancer finishes writing on a scroll, he completes the aura by folding the scroll. The more times a scroll is folded, the more resistant the aura is to overwriting (auramancers can infuse into areas that are already bound to a scroll, but it's harder). There are however two downsides to folding scrolls: 1. making an aura resistant to overwriting makes it indiscriminately resistant to overwriting from ALL sources, including the auramancer who created the scroll in the first place 2. An auramancer can only maintain a fixed amount of folds. For example, the average auramancer, after a grand total of 10 folds, can't infuse anything anymore until one of his previous scrolls gets destroyed or one of his previous auras gets overwritten. For this person, infusing 5 auras with twofold scrolls each might be way more useful than, say, a single tenfold scroll.

Speaking truths as a source of power (not honest statements, but hard facts)

  3. If by simping we mean "I simp for how well designed this character is conceptually" then my list is Sazed, Vasher, Breeze, Vivenna, Dalinar, Leshwy, Silence, Rysn, Jasnah.

If by simping we mean "outside of literary technique, this character's personality resonates with me and I'd want to be friends in real life" then my list is Jasnah.

  4. I'd take the stuck-up Honorspren. I am personally closest to the order of elsecallers anyway, and inkspren are pretty stuck-up, so I don't really mind that flaw.

Would you rather be a third ideal knight radiant of your favorite order without having to swear any oaths, but stuck on third ideal, or a first ideal knight radiant of your favorite order but with normal growth potential?

  5. @Sequence No, I mean ferring. The question basically is, would you be willing to sacrifice baseline physical strength in order to gain the ability to store and tap physical strength, so that you're objectively weaker on average but get some short term bursts above your previous level. I think the alternative WYR (be normal vs be a baseline weak pewter *misting*) is more slanted. At least for me, being a pewter misting sounds way better than being a pewter ferring, and I'd be willing to sacrifice quiite a bit to get there.

I think it would depend on my quality as a traveler to Braize. If I'm like, there with diplomatic immunity, and none of the voidspren and fused could torture me, then sure, sounds fun.

WYR be able to use emotional allomancy or be completely immune from mind controlling invested arts?

  6. Hello everyone! I'm not entirely new to the fanbase and the content, been following Brandon's work since around 2011 or so and read everything he put out aside from his Wheel of Time books (dw, will get to it :3) and I check out the reddits semi-regularly, and I also watched a fair number of shardcast podcasts, but I just randomly didn't think of checking out this forum. Eager to get to know y'all and alternately fangirl over/theorycraft over stuff.
