What parts of the Sunlit Man are we allowed to talk about?

Sunlit Man is fine - but Inquisitors are not Sunlit Man stuff, which is why this fits better in the Cosmere forum, where I am going to move this. If you are not fully caught up on the Cosmere and would like this moved back to the Sunlit Man, you can ask for that by reporting the topic - but then we'll ask that any non-Sunlit Man content be spoiler-tagged.

  2. It looks like you might be typing the recipient's username incorrectly. I can reproduce your error when I type @Chaos instead of just Chaos. You should be able to see this (not) working because typing just Chaos suggests a bunch of valid usernames from the dropdown I can select, but typing @Chaos suggests none.

  3. Hello, users. Look at your mod. Now back to me. Now back to your mod. Now back to me. Sadly, they aren't me, but if they stopped doing... whatever it is that they are doing, they could act like me.

Ah, to be in fifth grade again, doing the thing where you stand in front of the class and tell them about yourself. I got into Brandon's books by way of Robert Jordan's The Wheel of Time. I went through a few big fantasy series in my early teens (Lord of the Rings, Riftwar, A Song of Ice and Fire, The Wheel of Time... I think Malazan came later), and so when I heard that RJ had passed away and some unknown upstart author was going to be finishing his books... well, I was upset, dear listener! I did eventually relent and pick up Elantris sometime in 2009, in the leadup to the release of The Gathering Storm, and got a little bit hooked on that sweet sweet Brandon avalanche (back in my day we didn't abbreviate it to Sanderlanche!).

From then on I became an active member of the community, and avid theorycrafter, and regular visitor and question-asker at Brandon's Chicago events. Eventually my presence in the community resulted in a mod role, and my presence at signings (presumably combined with my brilliant intellect and irresistible charisma) resulted in a beta reader's status. And I continue to stick my nose in all sorts of fandom places - Shardcast, a little bit of Copperminding my own business, a bit of Arcanum work, running our Patreon's monthly fanart commissions (that's right, dear viewer, we take your hard earned money and use them to feed starving artists and get pretty fanart out of the whole deal!).

Find me on Discord and tell me how you love me. Spare no detail, I can take it!

  4. Penguin Random House has released a new Look Inside feature for Defiant, which includes the prologue and the first eight chapters of the book. You can read it right here! Keep in mind, though, if you're on the phone - for some reason, the Look Inside is not available in the mobile view of the site. You will have to switch to desktop view in order to open it.

Quick question, what are push notifs?

Just like you can configure the website to send you an email or a website notification when certain things happen (e.g. you get a DM), you can have the browser send you a push notification - which is like a tiny pop-up if you are on desktop, or a regular phone notification if you are on a smartphone.

The first draft of Khrissalla's Journal is complete - with all of the art snippets uploaded and posted. Please let me know if any of them need to be removed as being beyond what we have permission to post. I still need to do a pass for image-placement/flow and a pass to make sure the first instance of each term is linked (and possibly remove links in the Glossary for things that won't have a page and/or find a suitable alternative). However, feedback is appreciated (typos especially) so I can have that in mind when I start those reviews in a few days. Now, I'll do the first review of the Omnibus Summary and make sure that items that had no link, but now have entries in the Journal, are properly linked.

Thank you all very much for your time and consideration. Have a great day.

The images look good, I think they are well cropped to just what is topical, so that's great. It's actually the text that seems a bit much to me - we put the epigraphs there verbatim, but this feels like a lot more copyrighted material. My intuition is that it's better to use the contents of the journal to update the appropriate pages (e.g. Taldain's, or Dayside's, etc), and use this page as more of a hub or reference page that includes brief summaries of all the journal pages, and then sends the reader to different places for more details.

We'll discuss and get back to you.

  7. The Ars Arcana are usually written to be read after you finish the book they are a part of, so I wouldn't consider anything in them a spoiler. Some minor details are going to be revealed there, but that's intentional, you can think of it as a part of the book; it's just a small tease for things to come, not important plot details.

  8. The Bulgarian editions of Stormlight translate Shardblade and Shardplate as... magical swords and magical armor respectively (though the word use is not the one that shares a root with "magic", maybe enchanted sword/armor is closer). Spren are just "spirits" (but in a diminutive form, which infuriates me, it has very much Casper the friendly ghost vibe). Odium is just "Evil".

I know they are making updates to some of this, but some of the term really grind my gears

Navani's next stages in capturing a spren (RoW epigraphs, Chapters 2-5) would be filling the gemstone to around 70% full of Stormlight (Voidlight in BAM's case) and then quickly sucking that Stormlight out to create a vacuum that will suck in a nearby spren.

This is unique to the Arnist Method of capturing a spren and creating a fabrial. Notably, Dalinar doesn't go through any of that when he captures Nergaoul inside the King's Drop. I would expect that what Melishi did was very similar.

Here are examples I had prepared:

      Reveal hidden contents

(Basically I was already dismantling the images for my ebook version because the text is unreadable on a device smaller than a PC - so I've been transcribing the text into epub css and using the excerpt images to "float" left and right around the transcribed text)

    These seem okay to me

  11. Uploading the full pages is gonna be a no-go (except for maybe the map; we can talk about that one). That said, we do have Isaac's permission to upload partial images where appropriate. So, for example, cropping the Elisian clock, Dayside clock, and coinage table from the Timekeeping page - for the purpose of including them on the Elis (or maybe Darkside) and Lossand (or maybe Dayside) pages - that seems fine to me.

At least for the first few images I urge you to check in with me directly (I prefer Discord, but this forum is fine too) so we can make sure our ducks are all in a super neat row - and then can move forward with more.
