Cakoban's fingers never capitalizes "fingers" in the text, but the chapter illustrations do (i.e. "Cakoban's Finger," as seen before chapters 14, 18, 47, and 54). I thought at first that the figure names might always capitalize, but none of the others ever do. So I think the Cakoban fingers ones shouldn't either.
I also think that the text suggests that the name of the plant is always plural, but evidence is not 100% conclusive.

There is one last line in the book I have to disagree with hard. "It will be satisfying to see @Argent's face." No, it will not.
Well, it was for Ed!

Apologies, busy week. Your accounts should now be merged.

We can certainly merge your two accounts (or delete one). Which one do you want to keep?

Should be good now, thanks for reporting this

The idea that Vin is slamming chunks of metal into the ground with bullet speeds, and she does it to move, is lowkey terrifying; Allomancers are scary.
Love the animations and love the work put into it, visualizing Brandon's crazy book moments is some of my favorite stuff out there!

The preview chapters for Wind and Truth, the final book in the first arc of The Stormlight Archive, are finally here! We expect a couple of chapters each Monday, 11 AM US Eastern Time, on Reactor (formerly Tor.com). You can use this thread as an index for where to find each chapter drop, where to find the discussion thread of each week's chapter(s), and also any supplementary materials Brandon might drop on us. If Discord is more your speed, you can use the #wat-spoilers and #wat-cosmere-mechanics channels there (but beware full cosmere spoilers).

Also in RoW chapter 11 it mentions how iron is used to create attractors which makes sense for iron (external pulling metal). It then mentions how repelers might be possible to create but they haven’t discovered the metal; this metal would presumably be steel (external pushing metal).
Please avoid resurrecting inactive threads.

What parts of the Sunlit Man are we allowed to talk about?
Sunlit Man is fine - but Inquisitors are not Sunlit Man stuff, which is why this fits better in the Cosmere forum, where I am going to move this. If you are not fully caught up on the Cosmere and would like this moved back to the Sunlit Man, you can ask for that by reporting the topic - but then we'll ask that any non-Sunlit Man content be spoiler-tagged.

It looks like you might be typing the recipient's username incorrectly. I can reproduce your error when I type @Chaos instead of just Chaos. You should be able to see this (not) working because typing just Chaos suggests a bunch of valid usernames from the dropdown I can select, but typing @Chaos suggests none.

It looks like this thread may have been informed by some things revealed in the most recent Wind and Truth reading; let's make sure we are marking or tagging such content appropriately.

Hello, users. Look at your mod. Now back to me. Now back to your mod. Now back to me. Sadly, they aren't me, but if they stopped doing... whatever it is that they are doing, they could act like me.
Ah, to be in fifth grade again, doing the thing where you stand in front of the class and tell them about yourself. I got into Brandon's books by way of Robert Jordan's The Wheel of Time. I went through a few big fantasy series in my early teens (Lord of the Rings, Riftwar, A Song of Ice and Fire, The Wheel of Time... I think Malazan came later), and so when I heard that RJ had passed away and some unknown upstart author was going to be finishing his books... well, I was upset, dear listener! I did eventually relent and pick up Elantris sometime in 2009, in the leadup to the release of The Gathering Storm, and got a little bit hooked on that sweet sweet Brandon avalanche (back in my day we didn't abbreviate it to Sanderlanche!).
From then on I became an active member of the community, and avid theorycrafter, and regular visitor and question-asker at Brandon's Chicago events. Eventually my presence in the community resulted in a mod role, and my presence at signings (presumably combined with my brilliant intellect and irresistible charisma) resulted in a beta reader's status. And I continue to stick my nose in all sorts of fandom places - Shardcast, a little bit of Copperminding my own business, a bit of Arcanum work, running our Patreon's monthly fanart commissions (that's right, dear viewer, we take your hard earned money and use them to feed starving artists and get pretty fanart out of the whole deal!).
Find me on Discord and tell me how you love me. Spare no detail, I can take it!

Thank you @Argent for the 17th Shard ribbon! (I was the dude in the front row at the Defiant release party tonight!) Let's do this all again next year!
I wish I'd known it was you, we should've chatted some more!

Penguin Random House has released a new Look Inside feature for Defiant, which includes the prologue and the first eight chapters of the book. You can read it right here! Keep in mind, though, if you're on the phone - for some reason, the Look Inside is not available in the mobile view of the site. You will have to switch to desktop view in order to open it.

I've been telling people that it's research into how silver works in the cosmere, I think that's a worthy pursuit!
