    Bear in mind this is totally theoretical—I've never had a crush and I don't want one—but I would just tell them straight up that I liked them, that it's okay if they don't like me back, but I thought they should know. It might make things a bit awkward if we were already friends, but not telling them would make it even worse. And then if they liked me back I would use this card because I've always wanted to. What's your favourite piece of geeky merchandise?

    I agree with everything Ixthos said (thank you for putting it so eloquently @Ixthos!) and I'd like to add that I've been reading every response in this thread, and it has been fascinating to see everyone's wonderfully polite point of view. I hope this thread gets more replies, and many thanks to everyone who's already replied for indulging my curiosity!
