  1. Should we be Sci-Fi? If not...
  2. You watch the filthy plague rat scream as its blood boils. It dies, rather unsurprisingly. You cover them in mud as the horde surges towards you. Many rats are caught in it, squealing violently. A couple more catch onto you, and flow around the pit. The arrow lands cleanly between it's skull. It dies silently. MORE RATS appear
  3. Rats surge into the pit, squealing as their brethren behind them trample them. A rat sprang towards his neck. It sprints towards him and winds up to jump at him/
  4. Being unable to comprehend the nature of the magic is precisely the issue. Besides, I've already said no- it's just a fact of how magic works, Sacred and Arcane magic mix as well as oil and water. No way around it.
  5. Zael looks over, and doesn't care. Your God doesn't respond to your prayer, vague as it is. He raises an arm towards the swamp, south of the town. "Just keep going that way!" he burbles.
  6. No. Arcane magic isn't based only on Imagination- it requires a breadth of understanding as well, a sort of scientific approach. All sacred magic is, by nature, unknowable, using energies bizarre to mortals, and methods the mortal mind is ill-suited to understand. They're diametraiclly opposed, yet mirror each other.
  7. "Rather so. I fear. Once you start eating it, it's very hard to stop." he takes what looks like a chunk of gingerbread and takes a bite. "The Swamp, where she has a dark fortress staffed by the goblins"
  8. The very act of having both exhausts them both quicker - their energies interfere with each other, and your mana and connection to your god resonate in a way that's unbecoming of both. Using them to power the other makes it go faster. It's the only way to balance Warlock, lol, otherwise it is by far the strongest class. You can ask your patron anything. Whether they care enough to respond remains to be seen.
  9. Jakob sighs. "I killed your goddess in a past life. I'll kill you if I have to." Jakob grabs a branch and breaks it off.
  10. "Thank the divines!" He claps his hands together "We have no idea why she suddenly started attacking us. It all started a week ago, when some goblin sightings began. Then we woke up to this.... candy. And then a night later, she came in person and stole my dear children! Oh. And a couple other's..."
  11. The Druid sits down next to you, her companion having departed on a quest. "So. Why do you adventure?"
  12. @ChickenBonanza @IcedOutPenguin @SpiritOfWrath Reginn , Galath, Teshan, and Hilda arrive at the fortress town of Honeywood, outside the town walls, a pit burns. Corpses, burning to prevent the plagues that killed them from spreading to others. As you walk inside, the town seems depressed, and everyone looks rather thin. As you spend mere moments inside, you see a pack of rats spring from the sewer, and charge at you- as though they can smell
  13. @Spark of Hope @Kaladin Stormcursed @CoderDrag0n8 Tertia, Elya, Evitar, and Zael arrive at the small town of Hochweise in Waldestadt. Or well, it used to be a town. In place of the typical brick or wood, the houses are made of gingerbread and covered in frosting and gumdrops. Chocolate bricks that are soft under the midday sun replace cobbles beneath your feet. You lift your foot up, and chocolate is stuck to it. You suspect that this will stick "This is some bizarre magic," Zeal mutters, "Work of the witch, no doubt." A rather fat man runs up to you, out of breath. 'Are you the Adventurers the guild sent? The attacks have gotten worse."
  14. Well- here's the thing, the cannon Endowment investiture isn't only a minority- everyone has one, it's just nit terribly useful. Picture it kinda like a guardian angel, if someone is really out to kill you, they'll succeed, but if your child is dying from a plague, your ancestors will try to give them a bit of extra investiture so they can pull through. It should def cost something- they get a little closer to oblivion, and need worship and to rest by the perpendicularity to recover. Yes absolutely. I'm thinking paranormal investigator stories.
  15. Here's a rough draft of Endowment's magic system- her interactions with preservation remain to be seen.
