  1. Not as we understand them, at least. Brandon's been sly with his fauna naming in Stormlight - Rosharans call birds "chickens", small mammals "minks", and insects "cremlings". We know that we would recognise a lot of animals as something else. What would we recognise Rhyshadium as? Behold, Oathbringer: Chapter 10: That's right. Rhyshadium are Giant War Goats. The other possibilities are sheep, octopuses, and toads. That would be ridiculous, though.
  2. Not Dabbid. Not Sylphrena. Not Elend. Not Kaladin. Not Drehy. Not Breeze. Not Gawx. This character is an ally and friend of two PoV characters. This character helped save someone from a terrible fate. This character almost committed a terrible crime. This character operates under detailed instruction. This character was ambushed and killed, despite possessing powerful weapons.

  6. OK! This character is an ally and friend of two PoV characters.
  7. Alright - whichever Sleepless was the cook that poisoned everyone on that ship. Do we ever find out who it actually was?
  8. I think Shallan's mother being Chanarach explains an awful lot, but I don't think she's the Herald that broke (I don't think any of them did - the Oathpact was sidestepped). There's just too big a gap before the True Desolation, and too many other explanations for how it came about. I think if she was a Herald, something must have stopped her returning to Braize. Candidate ideas: She was killed by a Shardblade - what does that do to a Herald? It must surely be a rare, even unique event. Her soul was re-attached. Nale did this to Szeth, who died in the same way, and it cannot have been a short time afterwards either. If any other organisation would have the technology to do this, I'd think the Ghostbloods would. Her soul was otherwise captured/imprisoned. Couldn't have been in a gem, because while it takes weeks for them to fade away (per Kelek), it does still eventually happen, and the others would have felt it. But are there other ways to constrain a soul? A spike, an aluminium box, some other type of fabrial, another spren (like the Stormfather taking on Tanavast's CS)... We know Shallan mistakes Testament for her mother's soul, but where did she get that idea? The Everstorm was already building in the Cognitive Realm, the Oathpact was already defunct, and she didn't have to go to Braize any more. I think this makes more sense than the Oathpact forcing her there yet somehow not immediately starting a Desolation proper when she broke sometime in the next few years.
  9. 100% this. He'd already messed everything up, by awakening Kaladin from his depressive catatonia. All he had to do was keep it in his pants for a few more minutes - instead he undid Vyre's effective work. He was worse than the totally-nuts Fused, because he's running around actively kicking over sandcastles.
  10. Testament! I know there's some debate about the identity of Shallan's Shardblade at various points, but after re-reading WoR it seems clear.
  11. Definitely Adolin, but not so much because he changed - just that as the books go on you can appreciate him more and more. At first he seems an over-confident, foppish, privileged pretty boy. You get hints early on at what a good leader and overall person he is, but he's in constant conflict with Dalinar and Kaladin and it kinda clouds it. To be fair to Navani, she wasn't forcing too much. Dalinar literally couldn't concentrate if she was in even the corner of his eye - dude stared straight at the sun to contain his horniness. All she had to do was exist nearby and that dam would break eventually. I'm not sure she was only seen in relation to Dalinar, though. In WoR she is, if anything, only seen in relation to Shallan and Jasnah, and as an artifabrian.
  12. Ahhhh, you're dancing around the answer! That makes 3 guesses that have been very close, and 2 more in the right category.
  13. Honestly, I thought the One was either the reader or Brandon. One mind, peeking through many lives? Knowing everything, but experiencing nothing speaks to me of an author with a plan who hasn't started writing yet. The Long Trail would be the epic series he may (someday) complete. The Fourth Land even lines up with publication order: Sel -> Scadrial -> Nalthis -> Roshar.
  14. Ooo, interesting guesses. Not Eshonai. Not Jasnah. Not Amaram. Not Firestorm. Not Oathbringer. Not Szeth. Not Kaladin. Not Pattern. Not Moash. Not Shallan. Not Venli. This character has been to the chasms. This character has been transformed by an Ideal. This character has killed more than one person. This character is hated and ignored by a PoV character. This character is the first of the current era to do something. Bonus Clue: Until RoW, this character was mistaken for another.
  15. Neither Firestorm nor Oathbringer. Not Szeth. Not Kaladin. Not Pattern. Not Moash. Not Shallan. Not Venli. This character has been to the chasms. This character has been transformed by an Ideal. This character has killed more than one person. This character is hated and ignored by a PoV character. This character is the first of the current era to do something.
