Any advice on trying to actually have a relationship with a parent who you just haven't had a lot of time with and they're busy a lot, but you genuinely love them and know that they love you too? Yet you don't really know eachother? I have a few ideas, but truly need some help here.
Also, typing out feelings about a topic unapologetically, but not in a full argumentative way, is a lot of fun. I recommend doing it when you feel like breaking down, it helps. Especially when the topic is unrelated entirely to what you were starting to break down over.

mmm I don't have that sort of relationship with my parents, but used to be that way with me and my brother. He's way older than me, so he kind of got out of the house and had his own life before I could really get to know him well. He does visit often, but it's different compared to how things are with me and my other siblings.
Recently though, we've gotten a lot closer. Having similar interests really connects us and we talk online frequently. We read the same webcomic and talk about the new episode each week, etc.
What I'm saying is that if you can find something to connect over, whether it's a hobby or a piece of media, it might invite conversation to happen more frequently.
Not sure if that helps. But that's my experience.
