  1. When I took the quiz a couple months back it said I was a Lightweaver.

Now, though, I got Truthwatcher (Lightweaver runs close behind though). Took me a while to get used to the change. I always thought I was a Lightweaver because I have an interest in the arts. Eventually I realized have much more in common with Truthwatchers than Lightweavers these days though.

  2. Skyward and Starsight had their own ups-and-downs. Skyward focused on character development and Spensa trying to prove herself. Starsight focused on the Superiority and the Krell. Skyward's plot was predictable in some ways, but it was still well structured. Starsight, however, had a lot of twists and turns (some good, some unnecessary).

I enjoyed both books, but if I had to choose, I'd go with Skyward.

Edit (11/20/21): After a couple more rereads...I gotta say I think I liked Starsight a bit more now. By juuuust a bit. They're still pretty neck-and-neck; Skyward had more of my favorite moments between Spin and her friends, but I really grew to enjoy the events and worldbuilding of Starsight much more--and the little bits that I didn't notice on my first few reads. I really liked Spin in this one, as well as the new aliens we are introduced to. I did miss the flight at first, but the rest of what happens next--Spensa spying, M-Bot and Spensa's conversations, introducing us to the world beyond Detritus, etc.--overshadowed that (understandable tbh, I'm a bit of a sucker for those things). The Spensa and the delver near the end felt a bit meh, but I can't help but think it just felt that way because we know almost next-to-nothing about the nature of delvers.

    Basically:

Skyward - really loved the battles, characters, Spensa's growth, and the emotionally impactful moments were spot on.
Starsight - introduced us to the galaxy and the Superiority, I liked the plot, worldbuilding, and it left me with sooo much questions to ponder about (which I'll take gladly, thank you very much)

  3. The title of this discussion is pretty self-explanatory. If you could spend the day with a Skyward or Starsight character for a day, who would it be?

I've pondered on this for a while and honestly, I'd like to spend a day with Brade; see what her life is like and stuff you know? Maybe learn about how she came to be Winzik's minion and see how she's being treated for being a human on Starsight. Brade isn't one of my favorite characters (nor do I dislike her, just neutral) but she's intriguing enough for me to want to know more about her character. I feel like there's so much more to her--in both personality and history--than what we were shown in the book. I know this sounds like whole lot of stuff, but anyone can learn so much within a single day.

Those are my thoughts. How about you guys?

Welcome to Shard! Though you've already been here a while, so you're not exactly new. A surprising number of people don't post an introduction here- there are some 4,200 posts on the Intro page and over 27,000 members in the Shard. Either way, what's your favorite Cosmere book?

Hahaha, yes this account was on here for a while, though I completely forgot about it until I tried signing up yesterday (turns out the email I was trying to use was already connected to this account) --so I'm still pretty new to this site and stuff. As for my favorite Cosmere book, it's definitely Words of Radiance at the moment. I haven't read a lot of the Cosmere yet but hopefully I will soon!

  5. Hello! I usually go by my user (Cara/Caramel). This account has been here for a while (though I got logged out and completely forgot about it until yesterday), and a fan of Brandon's works for even longer than that.

I wouldn't have known about Brandon if it wasn't for my dad who also happens to be an avid fantasy reader. Alcatraz and the Evil Librarians (book 1) was the first work of Brandon that I've read, though it wasn't until I read Steelheart --that was almost one or two years ago; time flies by so fast--that I started getting into more of his works.

Aside from those, I've already read the first Mistborn Era, the Alloy of Law, Way of Kings, Words of Radiance, Skyward, Starsight, and listened to The Rithmatist and the rest of the Alcatraz series on audiobook. So far those are the only ones I've read. My dad says Warbreaker, Elantris, and Legion might still be too hard for me to understand so I'm not allowed to read them yet. As for the others, I'm still on the lookout for them in my local bookstores.

Anyways, I'm looking forward to interacting with this community! Nice to meet you all.
