  1. Hello there, first of all, I would appreciate if this post could reach Brandon himself or someone from his team, because I'm going to ask him something in this post, so any help would be most welcome and appreciated. The TLDR of this message is that I made a homebrew Class for a homebrewed version of the Starfinder TTRPG by Paizo, in which I essentially include mechanics for the Metallic Arts from Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson, I'll have links to the google document at the end, plus other links that I will explain further. Btw apologies in advance if I express incorrectly in english, it's not my native language (that would be Spanish) and, though am decently fluent in it, I will probably make mistakes while writing this, also apologies if the document has some errors as well, if you have any input surrounding the Language used or the content in it, I will welcome it in DMs and comments. So, the Context, I have a friend who is a madman, and we both like ttrpgs a lot, he probably likes them more though, since he looked at the game known as Starfinder (developed by Paizo, who also make one maybe more known: Pathfinder) which, is a tabletop rpg system set in a more sci-fi space era universe, well my firend looked at it and said: "I can make it better", and debatably, he did. One of the many gripes people have with Paizo's systems is that they're very crunchy in numbers, so he reworked the system to reduce the amount of crunch, while keeping the colossal amount of options it gives, and adding even more. Thus what my friend calls "The Glorious Guide to Starfinder" was born. This Guide includes all the official Starfinder classes and races, plus all the unofficial ones from extra modules and stuff, and three extra homebrew classes developed by other friends, and one by me, the one I mention in the start of the post. The total number of Classes in this homebrew system I believe is 26, and they are all very different with unique features, we also have a now separate document including 200+ species from which you can choose from in character creation, plus a lot of themes (equivalent to backgrounds in D&D) which you can also choose from in character creation. And that's not taking into account the Bestiary which I don't even know how many monsters it holds by now and another document for Starship Construction plus adapted rules for starship combat. It's all in Spanish though, since it's our native language and the original idea behind this guide was to translate the Starfinder system to Spanish since a lot of our role-playing friends aren't as fluent with English. Anyways, taking into account how big it has become (according to my friend it's about 600+ pages in different Google Documents) we have considered publishing it in a more official way (through a kickstarter maybe) and make some amount of money from it, thanks to the ORC License being developed (which was initially funded by Paizo after the OGL debacle that happened earlier this 2023 caused by Wizards of the Coast, company holding the rights of DnD) we hope to do it soon enough. That intention of publishing it in a more official way is the reason I want this post to reach Brandon, since I don't want to enter into any kind of trouble regarding possible copyright claim to his Magic systems in which I have blatantly inspired the Class I made. It's true that I haven't used any official terms from Brandon's system, but I like to secure my bases first, since I know there is already a Mistborn Tabletop RPG, though it uses a different system than the one that the Class I developed uses (which is a d20 system). Still, if this could reach Brandon or his team, and they could read what I made and give their consent to us publishing this Class, it would be preferable. In addition to this, I would like to tell Brandon that if these mechanics that I developed for the Metallic arts in a d20 system were to be used by him or his team in the future they can consider this part of the post as a formal relinquishment on any copyright towards the mechanics created for this class (if they would like a more formal and appropiate statement about this, they may contact me and I'll make it). So, after all that, a quick summary of what this Class/this Glorious Guide to Starfinder includes. The Class in question I named it Metallist, and it is a Utility Spellcaster whose primary stat is Constitution (Quick note, the main 6 stats of this game are the usual Strenght, Dexterity, Constitution, Intelligence, Wisdom and Charisma). What the term Utility Spellcaster means to those not used to the ttrpg jargon, it means that it is a class with magical abilities which are more focused on buffing your allies and debuffing your enemies. The core mechanic of the Class is what i've called Metalmagic and Metalchemy (yes very subtle, that's why I asked permission to Brandon before considering publishing it officially), which you have access to both for teh base class, though you can take the option to specialize in any one of them. I also have started developping rules and mechanics for what I've called Sanguilurgy (also very subtle) but that is still in development. Metalmagic functions as follows: you learn it at level 1 and you have a number of "Metalchemic Brews" which are some kind of potions you can drink to gain "Metalmagic Charges", which you will spend to use your abilities. Also at level 1, you learn 1 "Metalmagic Ability" (you learn 1 each odd numbered level) whose name and/or effect is related to some pure metal or an alloy of such metal (I've added more metals other than the 16 allomantic ones, just to give more options). The effects of the Metalmagic Abilities activate wheter by having Metalmagic Charges or by spending them. Metalchemy works quite differently: you learn it at level 2 and you have a number of "Metalchemic Vessels" which you can use to store "Metalchemic Properties". You learn 1 Metalchemic Property at level 2 (and every even numbered level) and the way you use them is by storing them in Metalchemic Vessels (they have a negative effect when you are storing) and when you are finished storing them, you can empty a Vessel with a Metalchemic Property to gain a positive effect. That's about what I designed, the more specific stuff about the Class are in the following document, which is a translation to English of the original document in Spanish that I made, hope you like it. Metallist Class --> https://docs.google.com/document/d/1OiF5DlyMMEJjxEUiO1dIPYHGNzCQhvipXVniqbPqLNQ/edit?usp=sharing I'm gonna take this chance to also promote the Glorious Guide, bear in mind that it is in Spanish so, to all of you Spanish Speakers, here is the document known as "Guía Gloriosa de Starfinder" and also an extra document that has links to all the interconected web of documents related to this Guide, such as the Bestiary, a Guide on how to Master a Game with this system, as well as the document for Shipbuilding. We are considering translating these documents too, especially if we want to publish them officially, so if any of you are interested in that I'll try to keep you posted on that matter (also if any of you would be interested in helping us translate it, it would be of much help). Any feedback on it is welcome, so hit me up in DMs or in comments. Thank you for your attention and help to reach Brandon. Sincerely, Edhack77
  2. Hi, I'm probably way late to this discussion and probably someone else has done a discussion about this with more research done. But I don't follow these forums much so almost all of this comes from my crackpot brain and hasn't been contrasted with information in other posts over here. [Full spoilers ahead] . . . . . . . . . I recently finished The Lost Metal and my mind was blown more than the ship that carried the bomb. I've been thinking a lot about what Moonlight (which after watching reactions I finally realized that she was Shai) did to become an Elantrian. I've heard some thoughts about it, but none really spoke about the same things as I was thinking, so here goes. At first I didn't think that it was Shai because it felt strange that she would only have only three stamps (one of them an Essence Mark), but after some considering, it now makes sense. The stamps that she has in Scadrial are not only Universal Stamps as she called them, they are "unsealed" stamps, in the sense that they can be used OUTSIDE of Sel, which in itself is pretty incredible. Now, how can these stamps be "unsealed"? I heard a thought in the Shardcast about Offworlders in TLM that suggested that the reason Shai chose Moonlight as her codename was that she had recovered the Moon Scepter at some point. My theory is that she did find it, and discovered the method to create stamps that are disConnected from Sel, and she also developed (probably by herself) the method to create the Universal Stamps, which can be used on multiple objets to obtain the same (or similar) effect, no matter the object or surface that is stamped, as long as the change would be feasible. These Universal and "unsealed" Stamps are sure to take a lot of time to develop and create, and their power is probably linked to the amount of purified Investiture is applied when used, and that's why the doors created with those stamps last for a few seconds, as they would need more investiture to make that change last longer, or even be permanent. Now, addressing the Essence Mark, this one must also have been "unsealed" and, by its complexity, must have taken years or even decades to create (and it was tested for the first time here so what we can observe from it possibly doesn't extrapolate, but anyways), so now I had my justification for why Shai had so few Stamps. I also in my minimal investigation for this theory came to hear about the WoB asking if an Essence Mark could turn someone into an Elantrian and how it would need a lot of Investiture to do something like that. So, after this I started to think with more Detail about the specifics of Soul forgery, and how it works. My conclusion is that what the Essence Mark does is change your Cognitive Self, possibly altering your Spiritweb, and with the ink it opens the body to receive a small amount of Dor that makes the change in the physical body (similarly to how the Healing via surgebinding works, and that's probably how feruchemical gold healing works as well, I don't know if that's confirmed somewhere). Now this change in the Cognitive Self would need Investiture to be sustained due to the changing nature of living beings, and that's why the soulstamps need to be reapplied every day, and it's also why, in some cases, when applied during a very long period of time, it may not be necessary to stamp anymore to maintain the changes, since the Cognitive Self would have been kept in that state for a long enough time so as to make the individual being stamped to have assimilated the changes in their Spiritweb, and thus their Cognitive Self would become the altered one. Now with this understanding of Soul forgery, what Shai did was turn herself into an Elantrian, for which she needed to use a whole jar of purified Investiture to complete the change, but since she wasn't in Sel, she wasn't getting more Investiture, in fact, she was losing it due to the fact that Elantrian bodies seem to use Dor to function and channel it in them, that's why she made an Aon in the floor. My theory is that that Aon was designed with a similar process as the "unsealed" stamps, so as to be able to use Aons outside of Sel, and that Aon could have, in my opinion, one function out of these: either it Connected the Elendel Basin to Elantris and thus created an artificial flow of Dor into Scadrial or it Connected the innate Dor that Shai has as an Elantrian to the Elendel Basin, and tricked it so as to be able to use Scadrial's environmental Investiture to function, or maybe it Tricked Shai's Dor as an Elantrian to think that Elendel Basin was part of Elantris, or maybe something else that I couldn't even think about. Either way, the implications of what that Aon could do are MASSIVE, especially for other Elantrians who may be interested in interplanetary travels. Now for the last thing about this situation, Shai is probably now stuck as an Elantrian with that personality because, as I said earlier, Elantrians naturally channel Investiture constantly to function, so part of that Investiture is fueling the Stamp that maintains the changes, and probably the only way to turn her back is, as it was suggested in the Shardcast I mentioned before, to leech her with a Chromium allomancer or any other type of Investiture absorption or deletion, (such as a Larkin, for example). So that's my theory about that, I'll accept any thoughts about it since, as I said, I've barely researched anything about this topic, so any inconsistencies between this theory and the cannon or WoB cannon you guys can point out to me I would appreciate. Last thought: RIP Wayne, The Statue in your honor couldn't be more perfect, you made me cry, and laugh.
  3. Okay, crazy thought: It just occured to me (and I haven't gone to check in the arcanum prior to writing this so excuse me if there's stuff that I don't know for sure) that we could have probably been seeing both Cultivation and Honor's god metal all along. These gods metal (yes, I am saying that it's only one for both of them) would be Avastium, and it's the metal both Shardblades and Shardplates are made from. The properties of this metal would be that it interferes with Investiture. My theory would be that Shardblades cut like they do because they can interfere with the natural investiture of all things and people, and my reason to believe that it interferes with Investiture comes from the fact that Surgebinding doesn't work on Shardplate, I don't recall that we have seen any Radiant try to surgebind on a Shardblade but I believe it would have a similar result. Now the reason I think that this theory doesn't contradict the fact that both Shardblade and Shardplate are manifestations of spren in the physical world is that spren themselves are splinters of both Cultivation and Honor, essentially part of their bodies (which matches the description of the known god metals). Lastly, it would be only one god metal for both of them because they have combined their investitures since they were invested in Roshar and in this case, the Intents of their Shards aren't opposites, which is what I believe that happened with Ati and Leras. Also, it would be called Avastium after both of hte vessels Koravellum Avast (She who brings the Dew at Dawn) and Tanavast. And with that I rest my case. I'm thrilled to see what you people think
  4. Btw I like this idea a lot, just as a rule of cool
  5. I have a theory about these spren, unrelated to the plates. I believe that these 'secondary spren' or 'plate spren' (I don't know how to call them) can be ordered by their Radiant Order into doing some kind of synergy of surges. I also think that these synergies are what give the Orders their names (at least some of them). My evidence of this is mainly a couple of Kaladin's moments and another. So you know in Oathbringer when Kaladin leaves the group of parshmen when he summons a horde of windspren to hold off the Highstorm? And when he swears the Fourth Ideal an creates a sort of tunnel of wind to Lirin? This power I believe is what gives the Windrunners their name. The other moment is when Dalinar opens Honor's perpendicularity, he's surrounded by a massive amount of gloryspren, I think he somehow used the gloryspren to open it(?) (As i was writing this I realized that it didn't sound very plausible, but I still hold to my theory). So to summarize, I believe that the names of at least some Orders oof Radiants come from synergies of surges they can use by controlling the kind of spren that form their plates. I say at least some Orders because, for example, the Lightweavers are named after their main surge and the Edgedancers have an explanation that Nale gave in Edgedancer, also the Bondsmiths are a special case. But still, the other orders could possibly be named after these synergies, which could give us more clues about their 'Plate spren'. I haven't figured out any others though, this is basically as far as my theory goes but I personally like it a lot. What do you guys think?
  6. Finally someone who got the reference and responded Thanks for the welcome guys!
  7. I loved both Percy and Leo, I don't think I could choose either one of them
  8. Hello!! Edhack here! I've just recently finished both reading Rhythm of War and listening to all the Shardcast videos posted on Youtube. I've been reading Brandon's work since just recently (around the start of 2019), thanks to a friend of mine who recommended me the Mistborn saga. I'm from Spain and I've been entranced by the Cosmere in general since I started reading it (haven't read white sand yet though, but everything else I've read). I hadn't gotten into reading long Fantasy series, when I was young I read all Rick Riordan's books, but other than that I haven't been that much into a book series, and no other book has ever made theorize as much as Cosmere books. I've joined this forum primarily to rant about my theories, so I hope we can all share all of that. I'm not gonna be active very much, I'm still studying and don't have very much free time, but I'll try to read all I can and share all my thoughts and compare with everyone. So... Hello there!!!
