“But the dragon ate her anyways?” Emily asked hopefully.

“You okay?” Cara asked Ni. “Will my horse be able to go through the portal?”

Belle faded into the background when the news reporter showed up.

Emily listened intently, waiting for the story to continue.

“He’s not an imposter. Leave him alone.” Cara hissed. @S4S “Why do we need to go to the library? To go through a portal of sorts?”

"DELPHOX!" Delphox cursed as the wave of water hit her and diminished her flames. "Um...maybe you better come back inside." Isabelle held out Delphox's pokeball and Delphox materialized back inside the safety of her pokeball. "You too, Lucario." Isabelle did the out Lucario back in his pokeball, too. Isabelle threw two new pokeballs. "Go Leafeon and Umbreon." Leafeon and Umbreon came out of their pokeballs. "Leafeon use solar beam. Umreon use dark pulse." Leafeon made a big beam of light go to Lapras while Umbreon made a dark ball go to Mewtwo.

Cara snapped her head up, just now noticing the crowd of people staring at them. "He's not a ghost. He's alive now, somehow..."

Adolin? Idk if he is considered tall or not.

You can talk?! Cara thought, slightly amazed. "No...Is that how many times you've...died?" Cara asked. "That must be awful."

Cara looked at the notebook. She sensed that the stuff on the page was important, but it didn't make any sense to her. "What do the tally marks mean?" She asked hesitantly.

“Delphox roast them to bits. Use flamethrower! Lucario use aura sphere!” Isabelle shouted at her Pokémon. Delphox growled at the girl and her goons before unleashing a beam of fire at them. Meanwhile, Lucario formed a magic ball and shoved it towards the girl leader.

“I don’t think that was supposed to happen.” Isabelle dramatically threw out two pokeballs. “Go Delphox and Lucario!”

“Ni?” Cara carefully walked over to him and knelt on the floor beside him. She comfortingly set a hand on his back. Although she feared this was just a strange dream, she asked. “What’s wrong?”

“How are you alive?” Cara asked. “And…are you okay?”

Cara stood in the doorway, speechless. What the heck? How did this happen? She thought. After several minutes, Cara finally squeaked. “Did we….bury you alive?”

If you’re going for the numbers, The Magic Treehouse series is the way to go. They’re about 70-100 pages (pretty small pages) and there are over 100 books in the series. if you’re looking for actual books to read (not children’s books), then (kind of stating the obvious here) anything by the author Brandon Sanderson. Stormlight Archive, Mistborn, Warbreaker, Elantris, etc… another suggestion is the Nancy drew series. Similar to the magic treehouse option they’ve got more than 100 books to the series and they’re on the smaller size. However, they’re more adult sized books. Still pretty small, but may be more enjoyable to read than the magic treehouse books.

“Ok. I can do that. I’d like to add a couple of wild flowers to the grave before we leave, so that’s perfect.” Cara replied. “I’ll go see what I can find in the kitchen.” Cara walked down the hallway, whistling a soft tune. When she approached the end of the hallway, she opened the door to the kitchen. Cara glanced around the room, scanning its contents. When her eyes rested on Ni, she shrieked as loud as she could and jumped back, eyes wide and face ghost white.

Cara sighed. "It's okay. I think I can find the kitchen. I've been there once with Ni..." Cara trailed off slightly, but then regained her composure. "I can probably whip something up. How many people will I be feeding?"

Cara jumped out of bed. How could she have forgotten about the world ending? She sighed at her brain’s limited capacity in the morning, and left her room. “What is for breakfast?” Cara asked curiously. Um…the world is ending and you’re asking about breakfast? Cirsei asked, baffled. What? You can’t save the world on an empty stomach. Besides, he mentioned breakfast first. He obviously already carved time away to eat, so we might as well eat before going.

Isabelle shrugged. “Yeah, I’ve been here a few times.”

Isabelle yawned and sat down in a chair.

Isabelle followed Trevor.

Cara groaned. "Five more minutes."

"I'm Isabelle, a professional pokemon beauty contest winner. Who're you?"
