  1. Q grinned at Ellis, although he couldn’t see it, then turned to slash the neck of the guard Melody. Once again, blood spurt onto her clothes and face. She let go of her knife, then grabbed it in a reverse grip. Crouching, she watched all the guards while keeping an eye on Ellis, seeing which one Melody would strike next. She looked to be excited, enjoying it even. Her eyes showed so much emotion, yet so little at the same time.
  2. Q simply dodged, skepticism replacing curiosity. She held out her ivory knife and sliced her palm, but instead of blood trickling out, it was smoke. The smoke swirled, her veins slowly starting to turn black. The smoke immediately healed the cut she made, then made its way up to where smoke was streaming from her eyes, making a mask of smoke in front of her face. "Alright then," she said through the mask of smoke, the distorted voice purring. "We'll play that way." She shot from behind cover, moving with inhuman speed towards the guard Melody had hit. In a flash, she cleanly cut through the guard's neck, their blood spraying onto her face.
  3. Hyn Eisoku walked the busy streets of Validus, avoiding people as much as she can. She couldn’t touch anyone now, she didn’t need to make any Connections with anyone here right now. It was the last thing she wanted. The monks did teach her to control her Talent when she makes contact with anyone, but they also advised her to avoid touching people just in case. It was going to be difficult in Validus, but it was doable and she at least had some practice from the monastery. One could never be too careful with Talents; there was so much for anyone to understand about it. People passed right and left of her, giving her some glances before continuing on their way. It was expected, because a Counselor Monk doesn’t just simply walk into Validus without one noticing. It didn’t help that she was wearing her monk clothing, not to mention her tattoos on her forehead and hands and the quarter staff she had on hand. She stuck out like a sore thumb with all of these people who wore long trench coats and suits, but she figured out to not care about them and what they might think of her being here in the city. Just need to analyze the Prophet situation, she thought, avoiding another person as she looked up at the towering buildings. Then go back home at the monastery. Validus doesn’t need me after that. Through the white clouds, the sun shone through, blinding her for a moment. That moment of blindness was when she bumped into someone, making a Connection almost immediately and instinctively. She was looking down at a young woman. The small monk cowered, clutching her staff tightly when she squeezed her eyes shut, muttering to herself. She couldn’t hear the words, but they were of apology, no doubt. The monk backed away, now clutching her head in pain. Honestly, she had more important things to do than worry over some monk. Why she was here, that was another story that would most likely appear on the paper. This monk was the least of her worries. She had to go to her job, so she could feed her family. Her family was going through hard times, she didn’t have the time to sit down and humor this monk with strange tattoos. How pathetic, she thought, passing the monk without a second thought. I have a job to–– Hyn Disconnected. She found herself on her hands and knees, breathing shallowly as she stared at the ground. People seemed to crowd her, but in reality, they were only passing her while giving her sympathetic glances. These people were too much, why did she ever agree to come here? She knew that the Prophet Situation was something that the monks needed to be taken care of, and understood it, but why send her with her Talent like this and barely any control over her emotions? She may be the youngest master, but there were some things that she obviously needed to work on. Hyn looked up, trying to find the sun, but only finding more people passing her. She let out a shaky breath, still hyperventilating slightly.
  4. “Alright then,” she said, her voice lowering to a whisper as she crouched to look at the guards. She gestured towards them. “Melody, take point. We’ll be close behind. If it gets too dicey, I can get you out of there.”
  5. Q nodded in agreement, twirling her knives between her fingers. A mad grin appeared. "Mmm, yes. Shall we?"
  6. Hello there, and welcome to the chaos Shard! I started with Stormlight too, and tbh I really don't have many people to talk to about it irl. But yessss, I frickn love the Mistborn trilogy and Warbreaker. Hero of Ages and Warbreaker are probably some of my favorite books, lol. But I wanna ask: Who's your favorite Brandon Sanderson character?
  7. “Depends on how hard you hit and what you hit them with.”
  8. The black enveloped the sapphire when Q nodded. “Does it have to include the arm?” she asked, her distorted voice returning.
  9. “You don’t need them,” she affirmed. “Just because some people have powers doesn’t mean that you’re less capable of being something great; a hero, if you will. You can be just as good, if not better, than people like me who do have powers.” Q hesitated, the sapphire becoming more prominent in her gaze, then placed a soft kiss on his cheek. “I believe in you, okay?”
  10. She rolled her eyes, grabbing his shoulder to turn him, looking in his eyes. Through the swirling black, little bits of sapphire fought its way through. "Listen to me: We all have weaknesses and think that we can't contribute to the situation at hand, but that doesn't mean we can't try. We all have failures, I can attest to this, but we can't let those get to us. There are... some things that I am still trying to get over, but it doesn't stop me from at least trying. Just because you might not have the information to deal with this does not mean that you just give up without trying." Q closed her eyes and exhaled, little trails of dark smoke streaming out, then opened her eyes. "You don't have to, though. This is your decision."
  11. "Mmm, didn't you say you wanted to come with?"
  12. "Being useless is your own decision; having your memories lost was someone else's." A second of silence passed before black began to creep into her eye color. "Stop blaming yourself and do something about it," she said, her voice starting to come out distorted.
  13. She didn't explain as she took in a deep breath. "You act like a kid yourself, Ellis, but you don't hear me complaining."
  14. Q brandished her ivory and obsidian knives, the blades shimmering for a second. "Could you guys keep it down?" she hissed. "Not only is there people over there, but I need to concentrate for a second."
  15. "Oh, I can make it controlled," she said, her voice distorting a bit as her eye color flickered from sapphire to black. "You would have to give me a few minutes, though."
  16. Q tilted her head back and forth. "But how is she supposed to gain experience if she doesn't do anything?" she whispered, almost to herself.
  17. Q shrugged. "Well, at least it's something. Probably better than what I had in mind."
  18. "No offense, but I don't think that hitting them will do much. I mean, sure it might incapacitate them for a bit, but for how long?"
  19. The guarded expression returned. "I don't want..." She then cocked her head, as if listening to someone. Biting her lip, Q glanced at the guards. "I can take them from the front, catching their attention," she whispered, "then you and Ellis could get to the portal. It's kinda stupid when I say it aloud, but I swear to Ko'ad I know what I'm doing."
  20. Her brow furrowed as she tilted her head side to side. "Yes, and no," she said, softly. "I don't want to do it, though."
  21. Ah, I love Shallan as well, right up there with Vin and Lightsong (a character from Warbreaker). Also, please don't double post. Something to keep in mind while you're on here.
  22. Hello and welcome to the chaos Shard! Mistborn is probably one of my favorites from Brandon, just because of that amazing and worthwhile ending. Something that does come close to me is Warbreaker, but you haven't read that yet so I won't say anything else about it, lol. But hey, I'm reading Rhythm of War as well! Now that I'm officially on spring break, I've been reading that or writing something by myself, lol. But I want to ask: Who's your favorite Sanderson character?
  23. As soon as Q caught sight of the guards, she fell into a crouch. She studied them, her fingers twitching for a non-existent blade. Tearing her gaze away from them, she rose an eyebrow at the rest of the group. "Any ideas?" she whispered, glancing at the guards then back at the group.
