  1. The light rescinded, growing dimmer, but still there.
  2. But the darkness was long gone, and the scorched floor was its tombstone. The Light longed to leave. To escape. To be free, free to avenge the Darkness and ALL THAT HAD WRONGED IT
  3. The light within Roy resonated a feeling of strong sorrow.
  4. Darkness and fire combined into one, shimmering for a moment, before finally vanishing, leaving nothing remaining except a charred mark on the otherwise-perfect floor of the clinic.
  5. The darkness and the fire did not relent.
  6. The fire reached through the shield. No power matched emotion, no emotion matched the power of fire. In the blaze, a dark figure could be seen. Darkness itself. The darkness ignored him, caught up in it's outrage.
  7. It seemed like hours passed for Quintessence. Hours into minutes, minutes into seconds, seconds into moments, moments into an instant. The magic it has absorbed was caustic. Light and dark wanted to coexist. The Quintessence wanted to prove the universe wrong. Now, something threatened it's existence. The combination force undid itself, and dark and light were expelled at high speeds in opposite directions. They wanted to be together. Now, they were both dying. The darkness reached out for the light, but by then, the light was already diminished beyond repair. It had taken most of the energy. There was a moment- no, an instant- where dark and light recombined into one, a final time, before fate took the light entirely and darkness was left alone, flickering in despair. The darkness weeped, crying for a higher existence it once had. In the tears it shed lay fire, and fire would consume everything, for nothing mattered more. A true force of cleansing, one that brought light together with dark. The fire spread quickly, with conviction and urgency. It too had a motive, for it was what the light and dark wanted, carried out by darkness. The fire will consume the world in time, if left untended. The world would be in unity during the last instant when it melted.
  8. Quintessence just absorbed it, with seemingly no effects.
  9. "Yes, although Lerac is not the issue here. He is a wielder of stable magic, ones that will not make impurities. Your magic, however, is not stable. It will cause the destruction of everything that we know and don't know. " The Quintessence looked at Lerac and his flowers. "Besides, I'm not doing anything notable to him."
  10. "Do you know the process of magic? Do you understand what the consequences are when you bend reality to your whims?" Quintessence stirred. "It makes a counterforce. And that counterforce destroys everything it can to return so it can finish the caster."
  11. "A concept known as Impurities requires everyone with magic to die, unfortunately, so all things else can be spared."
  12. Quintessence looked surprised that a child who had been unconscious moments before could waken so quickly. "I will not hurt him."
  13. Quintessence pushes him aside with excessive force, using the same sharp point.
  14. Quintessence pokes him with a semi-sharp piece of light, and then repeats the question.
  15. The Light combined back with the Darkness, who stopped trying to consume Lundyn's soul, and went over to Lerac. "What brings you here," It said, noting his immense power.
