Martin stares at his feet. He's been in enough situations to know where this will go. "Maybe stick with me when we get into a fight. I'll show you a couple things that won't kill anybody."
"I might be able to help you with that," Martin says slowly, speaking quietly. "And... about the war, you... you're going to need to make some choices. I'm sorry."
"Never let it be said that a disgruntled foot squad is good at naming things. It stands for explosive bullet. Take a bomb, make it aerodynamic, shrink it, and you've got a war crime."
"Oh yeah. The concept was applauded, especially when people realized it could mean soldiers could carry more medical or survival equipment. But it leads to a lot of stalemates." Martin rubs the back of his neck absently. "They're still better than E.B.s, so there's that."
"Makes sense. Lasers are a minefield of..." Martin waves his hands vaguely, "Stuff. Ethics, mechanics, supplies. Where I'm from, it took a good... I think a decade before testing was approved."
"That's pretty advanced," Martin remarks, looking at the laser gun. "Does it have a cooling system?" He winces. "And, ah, Fehn, I'd recommend not looking down the barrel."
Why is she just... carrying those around? That's not... Martin can distinctly remember at least three times he was severely punished for not securing weapons properly.
"Uh, thank you?" He carefully puts the bullets into the pouch on his belt.
Martin shakes himself free of the current conversation, filing away the new member's name, and goes to find Chrysler to ask what he should do with the rune dust.
@Negative_Null
"Huh." Interesting. And aluminum is a weakness. That's good to know. YTP had been looking into aluminum alloys. If he ever gets back, telling them about that could gain him something.
In a low voice to Ayia, Martin asks, "What's our plan? Are we attacking anything?"
@Channelknight Fadran
"I'm a soldier, not a scientist. Not smart enough." What are Realmatics? Even Ross, for all that she rambled about dimensions and space and whatnot, had never mentioned anything like that.
