Technologies on the coppermind
Truthwatch3r replied to Nightstar The Bright's topic in The Coppermind Wiki
I don't feel like I have much concrete to add to this discussion, but just to lay it out to help organize my thoughts and see if everyone is on the same page: Eventually, fabrial will become a cosmere-wide term; currently the only place I think it is used outside of Roshar is (yumi) The fabrial page, then, could become a cosmere-wide hub for Investiture-based technology. Is this somothing we're wanting to do now, before the term fabrial has canonically been used on Scadrial? (For the record, I'm fine with that, based on the wob mentioned above, but it will require some restructuring to implement. For one, the infobox template will need to be updated to allow for non-Light/spren-based fabrials. For another, the current fabrial page will need to be moved to a Roshar-specific location and a broader description written for a new page.) The first problem I see right now is that we need to find a consensus as far as what to name these umbrella pages one step down from fabrial. (Split it up by world name? Magic system name? Etc) That seems like the first hurdle to cross before we get to making a page specifically for the airships or the medallions. From what I'm reading in the discussion above, I think this will require such a level of categorization to keep things straight. Then, as far as Allomancy-powered technology goes, do we currently have examples other than the airships? (We may - my mind is just drawing a blank right now because all I can think of is Wax's use of his guns, but that's different to me so long as they also function without Allomancy.) We do have an example of Feruchemy-powered technology with the medallions, though there currently is no dedicated page for those either. I'm asking because those things could live on a Scadrian fabrial page (or whatever it ends up being named) for now until we get more examples of Scadrian fabrials or until we can vote on names for those pages. (We do have the ability to move pages if we decide on a better name later, but historically it has been notoriously difficult to come to a decision about things that don't have a clear canonical name. There was a similar suggestion about a Scadrian technology page that was made about a year ago in our Keeper chat, as well as brief discussion of a medallion page, but we obviously got busy with other things, and no one followed up on either one of those.) -
There are two things that can help. One is before you go to save your edit, hit the "show preview" button that's right next to "save changes." Then you can see what the page (or that section of the page) will look like with your new edit and can go back and fix anything you see that's still wrong before you publish the changes. For larger projects, for now you could go to your talk page, and you should be able to create that page. Just copy over content from any mainspace page you're wanting to edit, and you can change it up freely there without affecting the page people will see. When you're happy with it, then just copy it from your talk page back to the actual article.

Unfortunately not. You have to create a separate account here, at the coppermind, and at arcanum.

Hi! Thanks for the tag even though I'm not very active at all on the forums. 1. I joined 17th Shard because I love everything Brandon has ever written (probably; at least the stuff I've read) and was really excited to find such a large and active fan group online. 2. Impact... Well, I've definitely learned a lot from all of you. Would never have put together all I know about the cosmere without reading posts here/on coppermind and without all that's shared on shardcast and Discord. 3. I've really enjoyed getting into editing the Coppermind! And being on the Discord server, even as mostly a lurker, has been really entertaining at times and has also fostered some thoughtful, insightful discussions.

The Wind's Pleasure (Piano Solo) - Work In Progress
Truthwatch3r replied to Spockledorf's topic in Sanderson Fan Works
Wow, I really like this! Great job! Maybe this is a matter of personal preference, but I would probably add more support from the hand not playing the melody- more chording or a harmony line or something. I'll second the request for sheet music when you finish it :-) -
Fantastic sarcastic bombastic wheel of time poems

Oh man this turned out to be a really great way to get some latent frustrations off my chest: Roses are red Please just give it a rest Why does every character think They always know best Roses are red Suian's speech I do not like If I hear about one more fish You're off to the silver pike Roses are red He's not actually slow... Aiel have weird customs they think That Rand should already know Roses are red Luc's evil fo' sho' Gotta say I saw it coming Many long chapters ago Roses are red Gender relations here suck Women aren't all idiots; Wait- neither are men, wtf?? (Written at the end of TSR) -
I'm on book 4 right now, so maybe there's more to come that will change this, but when they talk about "weaves" I think of Michael J. Sullivan's magic system. In his Legends of the First Empire series, it's helpful to Suri when learning magic that she grew up playing cat's cradle.

@Wander89 hah very true! Despite what Kaladin thinks sometimes

Lol I still hate him, but I hadn't ever put together the possibility of Cultivation manipulating both him and Dalinar and using T as a plant in Odium's camp. And *shudder* I'm so glad it didn't end up being Renarin who wrote the Diagram!
-
Yeah she's definitely not around at that point... Just went and checked out the thread on Taravangian. Wow, that was really good- brought up quite a few points I hadn't ever thought about
-
From what little we know about them so far, they certainly fit me the best. I'm looking forward to finding out more about them, although it'll be interesting if Renarin and Glys continue to be our only example...

Awesome! I will! Not that I can recall from books 1&2. Now I want to go back through and see if Elend mentions her, but that's not going to happen until I finish HoA
-
@The traveller huh. I am really surprised to hear that not many people hate Taravangian! Good point about Elend's mother.. according to coppermind I guess we never do learn anything about her :-\
-
@Honorless lol besides Moash? I was about to say Taravangian wins hands down, but then again Sadeas' arrogance really irritates me even more than Taravangian's twisted logic in justifying himself. One thing I've noticed about Mistborn is that Brandon didn't really write many straight-out villains for us to hate (though I do count Straff so far)
-
@The traveller Hmmmm perhaps Sazed right now, though I'm only just nearing the end of WoA and I understand there's a lot more that will happen with him... I also really like Vivenna's toughness, and the scene with Hoid and Shallan telling The Girl who Looked Up always melts my heart, Hah too many to choose just one!

Hi all! My brother wanted me to start listening to the Revolutions podcast but somewhere in the process of looking that up I stumbled across the Shardcast; I have yet to learn a thing about revolutions, but I'm putting a lot more of the cosmere together than I had realized before. Thanks :-) Looking forward to digging in to this site as I finish Mistborn, reread Oathbringer, start on Elantris, etc!
