  1. "The Talon does."
  2. "You can't escape me."
  3. "Ah. That makes more sense."
  4. "Janice will die." Trace growled. "When she watches herself torture and kill you..." She laughed quietly. "Perhaps death is too kind a word for what will happen to her."
  5. Leonas smiled. "I prefer the breeze."
  6. "I told her I'd kill you. I'll purge your filth from this world."
  7. Leonas nodded. "The sunset is quite beautiful tonight."
  8. "Just follow your path." Leonas replied. "But when you reach a crossroads, remember that there's an option to turn around and go back."
  9. Trace didn't argue.
  10. "I'm not perfect, is what I am. But I am more so than Janice." @Ookla the Grammatical
  11. Trace didn't asnwer.
  12. "I was told to capture him and her." Trace pointed at Lloyd and Aryanna.
  13. "The moral is that it isn't so clearly black-and-white. The moral is that maybe, just maybe, you chose the wrong path." He looked to the horizon, which the sun was dipping behind. "And no matter how right something seems... it can be wrong."
  14. Trace roared with pain, the shot blowing away whatever effects the sedative were still making. She almost released her power, but then realized where they were. "Fine. You got me." Trace's teeth were gritted against the pain. "Now do you mind not shooting me a little bit?"
  15. "Those three words. 'Are you sure.'"
  16. Janice muttered in her sleep. "Won't let you hurt..." "Will be done..." "Won't let you hurt..." "Kill you next." "Won't--" "You are MINE!" Trace shot awake, breathing heavily.
  17. "There you go." Leonas said. "The moral of the story."
  18. "Yes." Janice answered. Trace didn't say anything. "Let me show you something." Fadran said, shifting the appearance of the dream. Janice's Traces vanished, leaving her a small, pale girl. Trace, on the other hand, found herself covered in the black veins; not a single square inch without the corruption. "If you were truly different, then you would probably look like this." Fadran said. Fadran looked up. "Oop. Looks like it's time for me to go. Nice chat!" He disappeared, leaving Trace and Janice to themselves. Janice looked up at Trace. "Are you... going to take over again?" "I am." You must end Janice. This soul must be purified. "I'm working on it, my Queen." Trace turned to glare at Janice. "When I wake up, Cadenza will be the first to die." "I'll fight you. I'll fight you." Trace put on a smirk. "And then you'll be next."
  19. "But in either story, only one island was unhappy."
  20. "So the people who didn't make any decisions were wrong?"
  21. "I don't know." Trace scoffed. "That's just what the Queen called me." "So it is." Fadran concentrated for a minute, then brought Janice and Trace together into the same dream. They looked the same, except Trace's eyes were red while Janice's were blue. The black veins spread throughout either girl, in the exact same spots. "Trace. Janice. Would you say that you are two different people?"
  22. "So everyone made the right decision? Not a single person chose wrong?"
  23. "I wholeheartedly agree! Imagine having to meet myself every day. Nonstop. For my entire life." "What do you want?" Trace growled. "I wanted to ask you how you chose your name."
  24. "That's true. The question here is who do you think made the right decision?"
