  1. "You will," Ellis said, sheathing his sword. "One day."
  2. Ollie played with Breeze, teasing them with her paw. "Which one's your favorite?"
  3. Phaedrus spotted him far below, diving down on the ironclads and spewing fire. "'Course she will. Even if she wasn't, she'd be too stubborn to die before she gave Cavalier a good talking-to."
  4. Phaedrus looked at Ollie. "I'll be back soon. Watch over the baby dragons." Ollie nodded. Phaedrus didn't hesitate, flapping her wings and taking off down the mountainside.
  5. "I promised I wouldn't hurt you, so I promise you won't hurt me."
  6. Phaedrus's head shot up in alarm. "That stupid kippy... he's going to get himself killed!"
  7. "I think you might be surprised how helpful it'd be." He held out his hand. "You don't have to right now, though."
  8. Ollie looked around, gasping. "Cavalier? Where are you?"
  9. "You can play and adventure again when the ironclads leave." Phaedrus said. Dave grunted. "Well, Phaedrus... imma take this little not-so-ironclad up to the Elders. I hope that's okay with you." Phaedrus nodded. Dave grabbed the ironclad, pulling him into the air towards the distant mountains. @Enter a username
  10. "If you ever need to share anything... talk about what happened to you, get out whatever's trapped in you head... I'll be right here."
  11. "I don't think the ironclads would be scared of you. You probably couldn't even reach their noses." "No one is going down to the ironclads," Phaedrus said.
  12. "I don't think they'd care if you tried to whack them in the face."
  13. "But that's all the more reason not to go down there! You could get captured, and... and... and eaten!"
  14. "Probably by using the catapult."
  15. "There are ironclads!"
  16. "Hey! You can't run away now!"
  17. "Oh." Ollie giggled. "Okay."
  18. "You're confusing. What did the ironclads look like from up there? Are they getting closer?"
  19. Ollie looked up at the sky. "How did you get all the way up there?"
  20. "They've got four legs and two wings. And ironclads have four legs too! They're just smart enough to walk on just two of them." Ollie tried popping up onto her hind legs, but fell over onto her back. "Or maybe just stupid enough to walk on just two of them."
  21. "But dragons have six legs!"
  22. "Phaedrus says he isn't lying, though."
  23. "That doesn't sound like a good thing..."
  24. How am I supposed to compete with that? Do my best? Aight. I can work with that. She was better than him Ellis didn't think that was ever in question. Q was graceful, experienced, skilled... Ellis had once heard that a sword should be an extension of one's soul. She didn't wield it like that: from what he saw, her sword was her soul. Besides... he probably wasn't ever really that good anyways. Her tune was unfamiliar. Ellis followed it with about as much proficiency as he did her swordplay. It was wielded like her sword: as beautiful as the blade's dance, and as infallible as the storm. Together, she, the song, and her blade were beautiful... how was it that he hadn't fallen for her even sooner than he had? Something deep inside told him that it would never work... they would never work. He followed her movements, closing his eyes. His own blade whipped about in the storm, but it wasn't like hers. She deserved someone who wielded their art as if it was who they were, not someone who merely tried in an attempt to... what? Impress her? There wasn't anything he could do with the sword to impress her. He opened his eyes. Ellis had fallen out of sync. Of course he had. It was because he wasn't right. Or... maybe it was something else, deep inside. A darkness. "Q..." he said, trying to return into sync with her. "Do you think that... something like you and me... do you think it'd be possible?"
