    "She wasn't much older than yourself when she became a mother." Ivian replied, falling into an old habit of his: procrastination. "Probably one of the reasons why she likes you so much; you remind her of herself. In fact I wouldn't believe it if she didn't know about everything you were going through. Sure didn't tell me about it, though..." He let out a breath. "I digress. Let me get to the point. Listen, once when I was a child--maybe not much older than those two kids you spend the day with sometimes--I was being bullied by another kid in town. I actually had him thrown in the dungeons for a few days when I became king; that taught him a lesson. Anyways, I didn't tell anyone about how he was treating me, so when my mother found out, she told me... what she said was..." Gah, I'm not qualified for this. Ivian clenched his hands into fists, then pulled up the nurse's chair to sit at Nicolae's bedside. "What she said was 'you were being the wrong kind of brave.'"

    Stars almighty... what is going on today? "Nicolae," Ivian said, careful and reserved. "You know my mother, correct?"

    In that moment, Ivian stopped looking like a king. For the second time that day, the color left his face and the weariness of age crept its way into his hands. "Mal... when you were eleven?"

    "What, dropped you on your head?" Ivian chuckled. "I'm just teasing. Go ahead and spit it out."

    Ivian looked aorund at the all the whispering staff members, silently counting how many there were in dozens. "Well give us some space!" He said, tossing his hand about. "Don't you have anything better to do other than listen to the boy?"

    "Oh!" Wendy said to the guard leading her along after returning the gesture. "Hey, you're Nico's friend, right?" @The Ward's Guard "You look like mal." Ivian noted.

    Wendy had noticed a lot of miscreants being taken out by the Praetorium recently, but the last face she had expected to see in their clutches was Allivia Nordy. A low growl wound its way into her throat. "About time, you witch." As soon as Ivian was confident that he looked like a king again, he knocked on the medbay's door and waited.

    "He..." Mal. Well... I don't have much else to do right now. "Alright. Tell him I'll be there within the hour." He'd need that much time to compose himself.

    One of Nico's girlfriends, huh? Ivian thought to himself. "Well, if the culprit was taken care of, then I'm sure the medic should be able to take care of him."

    "He--" A very uncanny combination of panic and relief washed through Ivian. "Stabbed? By whom? Why?"

    "What?" Ivian snapped, suddenly terrified of the possibility that 'Maverick' was back already.

    "Huh." Ayia nodded. "In that case you're in, kid!"

    "Hm? What?" Ayia blinked. "What abou--oh. Uh... no! No, not at all."

    "Depends, kid." Ayia crossed her arms. "Whatcha got to offer?"

    Ayia smiled and waved. "Hello."

    "Okay." Ayia smiled. "Who are you?"

    "Hello?" Ayia said. "'S someone following us? If so that's totally okay; weirder things have happened to us."

    "I can go do that, then." Ayia said.

    "I was just going to go to a pawnshop and sell whatever I had." Ayia looked around. "Is there anywhere specific an earthling should be in an earth town that you should do?"

    Ayia took a quick mental peek at her pocket dimension. "Some stuff, yeah. Is pokemon still a thing here?"
