    "You heard Nico. I'm not doing anything Allivia-like to him." Wendy pushed open the door and stood outside. "But if you absolutely have to, then alright. But only because I don't have work in the morning."

    "Who're..." She squinted. "Fishy? Fish--Fischer?"

    "Okay! Okay." The waitress sighed and held up a finger, closing the door momentarily. A few minutes later, Wendy pulled open the door. "Hm?"

    "Then why do you need her?"

    "Did Wendy commit any war crimes, mister Guard?" The waitress asked groggily.

    "They didn't." Cassander replied.

    A waitress--not Wendy--pulled the door open just a crack. "Who is it?"

    "It isn't quite spooky season yet..."

    Wendy closed the door to the waitresses' quarters, still completely numb. No thoughts ran through her head, no emotions rushed through her heart; currently she was stone cold and completely empty. Should she be ecstatic or angry? Terrified or euphoric? Why couldn't she tell? Katie and Arabella were in her bed, cuddled up to each other for warmth. Apparently it was late enough that not even they could stay up this long. Wendy draped a blanket over them and took Ingrid's bed instead: the only open spot in the quarters. She pulled the covers over her face, trying to block out all the light and fall asleep. Maybe she could feel again in the morning.

    Ivian leaned forwards. "And if it weren't him that was your husband, then he would've killed you first." - - - She followed in a stupor. Um. Wow. Uh--

    Feign anger. Ivian clenched his hands into fists. "However you were raised, Thadel, does not change your actions. Evil actions must be punished, no matter their origin. So I suggest you run back to Caden and find a new job instead of tempting an agonizing death." - - - "Yes it is." She growled, stepping out from behind Nico. "Whether or not I'm who this soldier says I am is my business, not yours."

    "You're sadistic. Freakish. Evil." - - - "Hey, umm..." Wendy swallowed and held up a hand. "Excuse me, I--"

    "Whatever it was, I doubt it was even remotely close to a fraction of what you've done to this kingdom's citizens."

    "Retire." - - - Wendy glanced between Nicolae and Fischer, a little panicked. How had the conversation gotten out of hand so quickly?

    "Burned alive, if some fool thinks that it might save your soul from mal."

    "Perhaps," Ivian said, "if you swore an oath on your soul to mal to never commit your heinous crimes again, then I might be inclined to forgive you this one slip-up."

    "Seeing as how you have plenty of money to spare, I'm sure you'll be able to pay off your fine without issue." Ivian crossed his arms behind his back. "As such, you likely won't have to attend your prison sentence for long." - - - Wendy stood up on tiptoe and glared at him. "No. I hate Allivia as much as the next person and if I was anything like her then you'd know." Hold up... girlfriend?

    "The punishment for an adulterer is a fine and imprisonment, not the torture chambers." Ivian stared down at her. "As such, you, too, will face such a punishment for your strict disobedience to my royal decrees." - - - Wendy's face darkened. "What?"

    Wendy took in a breath. "So, umm..." That's as far as she got into saying anything.

    Love? "That's beside the point. I released you as Raveness specifically to maintain the dignity of all our citizens; including the criminals."

    "Hi." She said with a weak wave. - - - Ivian glared at Riva. "Did you think that I sent you away so you could torture different people, Thadel, or are you counting on your 'husband' to protect you from the law?"
