"Yeah. Kay. Anyways..." Ayia stepped up to the register. "Listen. I'm really sorry about my friend. Why don't you give us a price and we can haggle from there?" He nodded. "Sure. I'll give you fifty bucks each." "Make it seventy-five." "Sixty's as high as I'll go." "I'll take that but you have to buy this too." Ayia dropped a gold ingot on the counter. The other people in the pawnshop turned their gaze to her.

"What I'm saying is, if you blow up my house, I'll kick you into a trash compactor and have your parts sold to some Earthen middle schooler trying to build his own PC."

"Kinda?" Ayia rolled her eyes. "I'm Fenonian, which isn't unlike humanity. Bipedal, carbon-based, knockout gorgeous... but genetically speaking, I'm not a human."

"Why in tarnation would I know?" Ayia hissed. "I've never even been to this planet!"

Fadran nodded. "Well, anyways, there's a couple lines that say 'Life's no fun without a good scare; That's our job, but we're not mean' which I think sums it up pretty nicely."

The shop owner laughed. "You really aren't from around here, are you? Why don't you get someone who is?"

"You're looking at the wrong definition of spooky is the problem." Fadran replied. "Have you ever listened to the song 'This is Halloween'?"

"I--" The pawnshop owner eyed them. "How... much do you want for these?"

"Question nothing here." Fadran clarified. "It won't make sense."

"Pretty gemstones aren't worth much of anything, in case you weren't aware."

Fadran bumped Enter in the arm. "Question nothing."

He grunted. "Are they cut? Inlaid? Of any recreational use?"

"A Mindscape is just a really big subspace, near as I can tell."

"Well we're in one right now."

Fadran let out a chuckle. "If it's useful, then yes. I recommend the use of subspace areas."
