  2. I happen to not know all that much about four-dimensional spacial stuff, so for the time being imma leave it out of my worldbuilding.
  3. Yeah. That sounds like a weapon. 4D stuff hasn't been mastered mathematically, and therefore cannot be harnessed by the Cytosphere.
  4. I happen to have a decent amount of experience in the soft magic side of things, if you ever need to consult someone.
  5. ...gonna have to ask for you to PM me about that, at the very least. I don't really have much of a plot planned, but I would also appreciate it if you don't shatter my worldbuilding on accident.
  6. Sounds like the kind of thing you'd need to wax philosophical about if you intend to keep the system hard.
  7. Effectively, yes. Souls are canon to this universe, and cannot be teleported quite so easily. I imagine to an extent, but I doubt it's been weaponized yet. Most likely it's a very new branch of theoretical science that people are researching atm.
  8. Impossible to survive. Because souls. I guess by living matter I mean organic material that is considered to be "alive"
  9. Also! I should probably mention. Unless I already mentioned it, in which case I should probably remind y'all that deciding your characters' modules does not mean that your character has chosen them prior to joining the Cytocorps. It's illegal for regular citizens to summon military-grade modules; or any, for the most part. A few high-maintenance jobs will have specialized modules for the workers to use, but for the most part people won't ever touch any for the majority of their lives. There are certain religions that consider connecting to the Cytosphere to be a rite of passage, and as a coming-of-age ceremony you might call down a single module (something basic, or even just the main power supply and nothing else). They are certified to do so. Discovering what modules you prefer comes with the training that the Cytocorps gives. Some cadets might research ahead of time and plan out which ones they might prefer, but many end up changing their preferences later on as they experience them firsthand. What you're choosing will most likely be the combo they end up going with after we complete the obligatory training arc.
  10. The Modules are summoned to people via a form of teleportation. I'm going to say that it's impossible for living matter though.
  11. Just watched Rings of Power ep. 1

Better than I expected but not as good as I had hoped. Overall pretty solid mid. At the very least I wasn't feeling a constant ringing of hatred the entire time.

Here's a more in-depth take with spoilers and stuff:

    Spoiler

    First of all: nitpicks

    - They called it Middle-Earth. False. Back then, the entire continent was known as Beleriand. Probably for the best to keep the normie fans tuned though.

    - Galadriel's a warrior? As I recall she was just a frolicking happy-go-lucky sort of elf back in the day. I'll have to double-check though. My memory on this stuff's a little rusty.

    - You're telling me a warg couldn't spot a massive group of incredibly loud hobbit children from ten feet away? Come on.

Second of all: stuff I thought was good

    - CGI, for the most part. There were a few bits that looked like it could very well be cheap 3D models, but that might've just been me. Obviously you'd be hard-pressed not to have epic CGI if you're presumably the "biggest show of the year" and such, but still; good to know after the horrendous graphics display that is She-Hulk

    - Humans. Of all the races they displayed, the little village of regular people seemed the most real and lifelike. Though I guess that could be bias because I happen to be a man myself :P

Third of all: stuff I thought was less than good

(unfortunately, there's a decent amount of this)

    - That wasn't a love arc they're trying to do with Galadriel and Elrond, is it? It started out looking like a love arc and then gradually faded away from it? I bring this up because she's a whole age and a half older than him and his cousin or something. Again, I'll have to double-check this.

    - The dialogue seemed pretty off, but I expected that for the most part. Somehow Tolkien manages to get away with nothing but flowery poetics from the elves while no one else can. For the most part it bothered me how conveniently each topic worked themselves into conversation. It was just really fast-paced and threw me off. Again, that's kinda fine though. It just needed some fine-tuning is all.

    - Biggest biggie is that they didn't give us enough time to figure out each character and situation. While I love me a good multi-POV adventure show, the least they could've done was build up everyone's deals before throwing them for a loop first. All that was clear with Galadriel was that she wants to avenge her brother, who we never had any chance to get attached to. They just straight-up tell us that this hobbit child (who, by the way, is adorable and I love them) wants to go on an adventure, and the elf warrior dude is gets exactly one jump cut to chat up his girlfriend before being presumably yanked away.

    - And, of course, what's with all this "evil" coming out all over the place, all the time, at the same time? Sauron's a number of things, but flashy isn't one of them. You can't convince me that the elves went from "we're sure he's gone" to "ah snipe he's poisoning the literal elf trees" in just an episode.

Overall, I'm keeping my hopes up. I definitely think it might be entertaining if not particularly remarkable. Here's hoping we get some numenoreans!

that was quite a bit further than 10 feet away =P
also, i was under the impression that it did spot them, and simply chose not to chase.
also, nitpick on your nitpick, they aren't hobbits B).

      the cgi is heccin great
      it'd better be
it's not the biggest show of the year
it's the biggest show of all time
it has twice the budget of any show ever made ever
and nearly 3 times the budget of the original movie trilogy
i did notice that some of the practical effects looked a little off. specifically the dwarve's noses in the trailer
but all the cgi is awesome

they used the word friend many many times
felt very intentional to me, like they wanted to make sure people wouldn't think this exact thing
when you live for hundreds and hundreds of years, i imagine you become very close with your friends.

I thought all the dialogue was great, especially from the elves. especially especially from galadriel.
if anything, the harfoot dialogue was the weirdest for me, and even that was still perfectly fine.

      it's episode 1 whatdyu expect =P
they gotta do a lot of introductions very quickly. I'm sure they'll do a bunch more fleshing out as we get more time with each set of characters.
and for the record, I was very attached to galadriel's brother
well, sufficiently attached. The audience doesn't need to be 'attached' to him, we aren't supposed to be sad that he died, we're supposed to understand why galadriel is. He is her motivation, and I felt like it showed enough of their connection to thoroughly justify her grief and her motives.

yeah that did feel a bit blunt to me. but i think it fits with the character. although i did feel like her language was a but too flowery in that moment. (that's what i mentioned earlier).

      They didn't =P
elf king guy explicitly says that he never thought the evil was gone, he just wanted to get galadriel out of the way
"the same fire that seeks to put out a flame can also spread it" or whatever it was that he said

      ^spoilers btw
