The Longest Thread (Misadventures)
NameIess replied to ElephantEarwax's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
Well, an intelligent observer might notice that I am not a species of bird native to this forest. “All right. I’ll get us out of here as soon as I can.” The shadowed figure concentrated, gathering his power. “Just give me half an hour.” Nameless grinned at Platypus’s consternation. “Ready… to… lose?” All but the smallest fragment of his power expended, Nameless let up his attack, watching as Platypus’s beam arced towards him unopposed. Just a few more moments left. The Dreamsmith watched her go, wishing he didn’t feel so powerless. I wish I could do more. Between Darkness and the… other one, they have their work cut out for them.- 111832 replies

"Excellent. I'll go grab some from the kitchens." The Dreamsmith hurried into the kitchens. "Lunamor? I need an order of Roughs stew." @Lunamor

A ghostly Akladin approached Penn, lightning crackling in her hands. "No, it won't." The shade facing Sleeper shook his head. "Sadly, I believe you will be the one dying soon. Perhaps he'll add you to his army." Joseph managed to get to his feet, and he stumbled towards Xi, still surrounded by a shower of white sparks.

The Dreamsmith hurries over to Seriv. “Apologies for the wait. You say you’re from the Roughs? I believe we have a certified Rough’s-standard stew on our menu. Although I will have to ask you not to ask what’s in it, as we’re already in enough trouble with the health inspectors.”
-
“Sure!” The Dreamsmith looked around. “If you uh, know where it is. I haven’t been in here often.”

“Yes, he’ll soon be dead.” The necromancer walked past Sleeper and Penn, advancing towards Joseph who was still on the ground wreathed in sparks. The shimmering figure in front of Sleeper frowned. “Why are you so surprised? He is a necromancer. This is what he does.”

Some time later… Hey, wake up. I think I see someone. I’m sure they can find a different group of random adventurers if need be. Nameless felt the beams closing in on him, felt Platypus slacken his energy. He knows I’m planning something. Still, can’t make my move yet. He continued to struggle, but the beams inched closer and closer despite his best efforts to halt them. Almost there. just a little bit longer. — The shadowed figure nodded. “Yes. I can’t travel easily between worlds any other way. I can leave you here with my minions, if you wish. They might save you.” @Ookla the Reborn- 111832 replies

"Yes indeed. You want to leave now? I think that would be a good idea." Nameless felt his energy slackening as the beams were slowly pushed towards him. He closed his eyes, focusing intently. No, not quite yet. Just a little longer.- 111832 replies

The Dreamsmith hurried over. "What kind of drink do you need?"

The necromancer looked down at the blades stabbing through him with an expression of disdain. "I thought we went over this. I'm immortal. even passable necromancers of my world are basically impossible to kill, and I am far from merely passable." The necromancer snapped his fingers, and ten translucent figures stepped through the portal he'd appeared from. "Now that they're all dead, the Akladins have proven quite useful to me. I'm sure you'll understand why in a moment." He pointed at Sleeper and Penn, and two of the undead Akladins split off from the others and walked towards the pair. @Ookla the Magician @Ookla of Ravens The necromancer watches Ezrium go, then shakes his head and turns to Xi. "What have they done to you? Removing all of your memories? That will stop instability for the moment, but does nothing for the underlying problems. Don't interfere with this, and I'll help you after Joseph is dead." @Ookla the Believer

"What, you think I can't kill Xi just because she's already dead? Don't base your estimation of me off of your own failings." The necromancer began walking towards Joseph, who was still on the ground, white sparks shooting off of him.

The necromancer snorted. "Why would I listen to a fool with no understanding of my true power? I take it you mean to stop me?" "No. I do not want to kill you, but I will if I must. Stay out of my way."

"Yes." The shadowed figure noticed Jeremy's expression. "I'll put him on speaker." He did so, and a nasally, groveling voice became audible to Jeremy. "Master, this world you have decided to visit is terrible indeed. All records indicate that it is haunted by a horror that is unimaginable-to one such as me, obviously not to one as great as you, my master-and no one who has entered has ever left alive. I informed Betrim of your location, and he shall soon arrive with several other to prevent you from needing to go to the effort of defending yourself from the abomination that inhabits the world you have graced with your presence*." *This may have been comforting to Jeremy, but in reality the extra numbers would likely only make the Hunger awaken more quickly. It had many eyes open now, and had even begun to awaken a small part of its consciousness.- 111832 replies

Joseph was almost impossible to see through white sparks swirling around him. "I can't stop it! I don't even know what's causing this!" The room shook one more time, the cracks in the air twisted to form the shape of a doorway, and everything fell still. A man with eyes that glowed with the same sinister violet light as the cracks stepped through the doorway. "At long last, the protections have fallen." The necromancer smiled. "I have come to kill Joseph Akladin, and I am tired of delays. Get out of my way or die with him."

In his pocket, the "Mordite" blade fuzzed, for a moment revealing its true form as a blade that was merely extremely lethal, not made from Mordite, as Mordite was impossible to make through simply Narration. "You're welcome. And when I say don't trust your memories, I don't mean that you should not trust them to be accurate, but that you should not be biased by them in interpreting current events." Nameless caught Platypus's attack, managing to halt both beams in place. It's a pity I can't just win this clash. Perhaps if Subversion hadn't wasted so much energy before giving up and allowing me to revive, I could have won. Still, although he was running through his remaining energy at an incredible rate Nameless redoubled his efforts, pouring out Narration to force both attacks back towards Platypus, eyes narrowed as he waited for his moment of opportunity.- 111832 replies

Nameless absorbed the lightning, then dodged the untitled Blade and put away his medallion. "Well, let's end this." Nameless pointed his Narrationblade at Platypus and launched his final attack. A massive beam of pure Narration launched at Platypus. This attack was not intended to do anything flashy like making an explosion or destabilizing Platypus's soul. No, it was far more simple and far more dangerous than any he'd attempted before in this battle. It was simple really. If it hit, just a few lines of Narration would become reality: Platypus fell to the ground utterly spent. Vengeance's glow winked out as he fell, Mordite blade coming free of his belt and rolling over to Nameless, the victor in this battle.- 111832 replies

The Dreamsmith walked into the restaurant and approached Lunamor, an unreadable expression on his face. "I want a job." @Lunamor
