  1. Unfortunately, Butt was busy being forced to act in a terrible knockoff copy of Brandon Samderson’s best books.
  2. Unfortunately, due to a technicality in TLT legal code, Butt was immune to being sued, and this extended to anyone he was an avatar of.
  3. Uncle Randy had an evil plan to use Butt as the main character for his new series: The Thunderglow collection.
  4. In fact, the only person who knew the mysterious figure's name was Eof.
  5. This mysterious figure grabbed Butt and dissapeared.
  6. Actually, come to think of it, Nameless had never seen this person before. Were they even a Narrator?
  7. Other spren form bonds by going inside a creature's gemheart, something humans don't have. Seons could have a different kind of bond, or their bond could just be weaker than a Radiant bond. Or he started out by following his oaths fairly consistently despite his belief that they had ended, but over time became more pessimistic and slowly drifted away from them.
  8. Lylac paused suddenly, coming to a horrible realization. "My mom's going to kill me!" Tria snorted. "She couldn't be that bad. I mean, she does treat any complaints about the queen as a personal attack against your father, but... uh..." "Yeah, exactly. Did you know she started putting one rose petal on my father's grave for every dead Starbreaker we get a report of?"
  9. Could be some other human. Or a Singer. Sigzil sees his oaths as completely gone, 'ended', but also expects them to still protect him from the Torment. What would have caused that besides his spren being killed? Breaking his oaths would not lead to him going 'oh yeah, my oaths should be letting me fight despite my Torment'. CS can bond people:
  10. Nameless nodded, patting Calano on the shoulder. "I'll keep the group together, and we'll finish this quest. You have my word."
  11. "Huh. Well don't worry, I'll save Wizard's sister, even if I have to sacrifice Thaidakar to do it!" Nameless glanced around to make sure Thaidakar hadn't gotten there yet. "Probably."
  12. "Uh, what happened to your face? I mean, uh, hello Doctor Calano."
  13. Helkins sighed as he tramped through the marshy terrain, feeling a familiar guilt as he thought of Tria's naïve enthusiasm. They don't remember why magic weapons were banned. No one does. He paused, crouching as his mechanical eye picked up on a flicker of life in the distance. Instantly, his armor shifted, ready to activate, his eye glowed red as it locked onto the threat, a dozen different methods of attack entered his mind, algorithm sifting through his memories to find the optimal way to eliminate the threat, some kind of flying creature... it was just a bird. A common owl, startled by his approach. He watched as it flapped away, heedless of the storm it had nearly unleashed. No one, except for me. How could I forget?
  14. This caused a problem, as basically every Narrator wanted Butt to be their avatar.
  15. So Nameless made him an honorary avatar of Thaidakar. The guy already had so many, Nameless figured he wouldn't notice an extra lying around.
  16. "Well, it's a pretty simple process. You make a character, and say that they're your avatar. Give them some kind of special connection to you, more character development than most, maybe some special powers, and you're good."
  17. Helkins snorted. "You want to fight? When I said you could join us or die, I meant that as a genuine option. If you want to swear the True Oath, I won't stop you. But I certainly won't be allowing you anywhere near a battlefield. You can stay here, help your friend develop her weapons." Abruptly, the warrior's gaze moved to Tria. "Speaking of, you said you had a prototype?"
  18. Helkins laughed harshly, a sound like gears grinding on metal. "Join me? Just a second ago you were terrified of me. Now you want to throw your lot in with the Allslayer? Why the sudden change of face?"
  19. Nameless looked at the document disparagingly. "This means nothing to me. Who wrote this?"
  20. Lylac nodded, too terrified to do much else as the rebel continued speaking. "You know who I am, obviously. And from the look on your face, you've heard quite a few of the stories about me. Well, I'm not going to eat your soul or kill your family or anything like that." Helkins gave Lylac a measuring gaze, mechanical eye glowing softly green in the dim room, then sighed. "The truth is, I only do that kind of thing when I have to. If you promise to keep quiet, and your friend here vouches for you, I'll leave you alone. I'll be leaving soon anyways, just as soon as I figure out whether what your friend here has made is worth my trip."
