Time seemed to slow down, Plotblade freezing in place. "Prophecy? What prophecy?" Questioned Malevolence. "That would be quite intelligent, if my Nullite armor did not stop those vibrations entirely!" Instead of more drones, already-fired bullets teleported in, aimed at the 9/10's general area. Holy water streams also appeared to destroy what few demons remained. Malevolence laughed. "It's already too late!" He shouted. "Your transformation is inevitable. It cannot be stopped now!"- 111813 replies

"Bad move." The drone said scornfully. "This is a terrible time to betray me. You should have at least waited until I gave you a few lessons on evil." This time, Malevolence did not teleport away. First, he breathed in sharply and began to glow with stormlight, causing his wounds to begin pulling closed. Then, lightning struck him. Or around him anyways, as a result of a suit of armor teleporting onto him. The armor was sleek, covering Malevolence from head to toe. With a hiss of air, the armor sealed its joints. Excellent. His voice spoke into Fog's mind. The connection remains. Can you feel the shadow within you? You took it into your soul of your own volition. It will be quite difficult to remove. The dome of air formed above Malevolence, but his armor withstood it easily. With a whirr of motors, he took a step forward and engaged the Guardian. Malevolence deflected the Guardian's blow with Darkseeker's blade, stepping inside the being's guard to jab at him with the spike at the end of the axe's handle. Actually it would be the Guardian that would have to die, he's the reason Malevolence and everyone else can't leave. An army of 500 drones appeared and began decimating the demons with holy water guns. One of them aimed a regular gun at 9/10 and began firing.- 111813 replies

As soon as Fog incorporated the Mordite, she felt a sense of relief from Malevolence. Due to their connection, she could see that he'd been waiting for it to happen. Then, abruptly, Ennulling energy washed through Malevolence, pushing Fog out of his body, nullifying her mist and preventing it from causing further damage. Why would I die when I've just won? Malevolence gloated mentally. Evil prevails yet again. "No, that man that was just stabbed will make a perfect host, I do believe. He will be terrible at defending you, I can guarantee it. Assuming he survives."- 111813 replies

Malevolence's brain resisted her touch somehow, healing the damage done to it. Malevolence's voice sounded in Fog's mind. Look at that, mental communication! You truly have linked us in a very dangerous way. After all a link to me is a link to Darkseeker, and without the safeguards carefully forged by the Dreamsmith, that link is very dangerous for you. Fog could feel the truth of his words, the power of Darkseeker threatening to seep into her soul in an entirely different way from the attack earlier. "Busy?" asked the drone "Hardly. I'm-ERROR-SIGNAL-LOST-EXCESSIVE-BRAIN-DAMAGE-DETECTED-ERROR-fine. Regardless, here is your body now." "That will have to do. I assume, then, that a blow from you is similar to one from the Plotblade proper." Someone appeared in front of the Guardian's blade, taking the blow straight through the sternum, in the process deflecting the blow from hitting Malevolence.- 111813 replies

It could just cause damage, it could corrupt her soul if you wanted that to happen. Malevolence grinned through the pain, intensifying his attack and ignoring the dire warnings of his biomonitoring systems. Starting to think Ribbon's crush is a tad unhealthy lol. "Really?" Malevolence's voice spoke through a drone yet again, since his lungs were filled with hostile Fog. "Nobody's ever made that clear before. One question: Is that sword of yours the Plotblade you protect?" The drone next to 9/10 spoke. "You want to help me? First, I shall help you. Are you ready to receive that new body I promised you?" "My Author is not always benevolent," Unintelligible explained "but if he says this is a peaceful resting place, I believe him." He walked through the forest a ways, until he came to a clearing. In that clearing was a simple burial vault made from mossy stone, overgrown with flowers. At its foot, the stone bore an inscription. Ideas are not dead until forgotten. Unintelligible looked to Aelinor. "Do you think this place will do?"- 111813 replies

Omen sighed again. "At least the real Bacon knows how to be serious when it matters." So the two adventurers travelled, and surprisingly (for TLT at least) the forest granted their request. Their journey was both boring and swift, as in a few hour's time they found themselves standing outside of a rather rundown building at the outskirts of the forest. A sign on the wall proudly proclaimed the establishment's esteemed name: Good ol' Gen'ral Store. Lyric ended his singing with a final refrain of: "April iiis indeed, the month, be-fore May." He peered into the shop's darkened windows, then looked up at the sky, which was quickly becoming the same. "Hello?" He called. "Fine owner of this store, are you there?" I've got a shopkeeper lined up, tomorrow. Malevolence groaned, teetering on the edge of collapse. But then... he found something odd. He could feel Fog, moving within him, turning his own body against him. But more than that... he could feel her soul, now dangerously connected to his own. Well, thought he, it seems my plans to steal her Narration have failed. Still, better alive to plan again then dead and forgotten. Reaching out through that connection, Malevolence channeled Darkseeker's power directly into Fog's soul. If she incorporated Chaotic darkness into her Narration core, she would likely become a very powerful withergeist. That would come with the usual hatred of reality and desire to tear down, corrupt, and destroy all things, but she would also be able to plan and think, unlike lesser withergeists. Her powers would be as destructive as her Narration was creative, although limited without a bond. Whoever she bonded to would gain great powers at the expense of being possessed at worst or slowly corrupted at best, depending on the strength of their will. If she incorporated Chaotic darkness into her being/soul, then she would likely be slowly corrupted by it in a way that would be difficult (but not impossible) to reverse, until eventually her core was corrupted fully, leading to her becoming a withergeist. Malevolence looked up at 9/10. His face looked awful, oozing darkness filling in the holes where Fog had ripped chunks free, and the rest of him looked not much better. His clothing was ripped, stained with blood and darkness, and he was still surrounded by Fog, although it did not seem to be attacking him from the outside. Still, he looked nearly ready to collapse. Malevolence's eyes remained confident, somehow. He even managed to force out a villainous sneer. "Rebus is not my friend, if you... speak of him." The voice did not come from Malevolence's mouth due to his Fog-filled lungs, but from a tiny drone that teleported in next to 9/10. Even mechanized and interpreted from Malevolence's thoughts, it sounded strained. "You want... a body? Or do you speak of Atreides, having decided to come kill me?"- 111813 replies

Malevolence screamed, but did not falter in his attack. Darkness pooled, filling in the gaps left behind by his torn flesh, burning the tendrils away almost as quickly as Fog could make them. I can only hope thought the part of him that logically examined everything, no matter how dire the situation, that the Dreamsmith's word is true. Otherwise I surely will be corrupted and die shortly hereafter, whatever the outcome of my battle with Fog. The rest of him did not think so rationally; it was too busy trying to stay alive, but more importantly: to win. Malevolence poured every scrap of his will into his Dreamsmith-forged blade, every ounce of his evil desires, every shock of agony that ran through him at Fog's attacks. Darkseeker responded. Darkness poured from it in a black cloud, pooling on the ground across the entire arena, permeating the air, burning, corrupting, consuming everything it touched. Malevolence's scream died off, replaced by a vicious evil cackle. "You know when I said I'd kill you earlier?" Darkness-laced blood poured from the villain's mouth as he spoke. "I lied. I will not kill you here. I will merely burn away every ounce of your borrowed Narration, leave you powerless, just barely alive." He tried to laugh again, but choked on on darkness, blood, and bile. "That way, I can use you to lure your friends to their doom. Only then, after you've watched them all die, after I've extracted the secret of your identity along with every other secret you could possibly hold, will I allow you the release of death." Malevolence's violet eyes, burning with pain, hatred, and evil, locked onto something in Fog's form. There. Desperately, he lashed out, sending the black dagger he'd tried to use to extract Ribbon's core flying on the end of a tendril of ropey darkness, aimed straight at Fog's halved core.- 111813 replies

Omen sighed. His rational arguments, it seemed, were lost on the likes of Meat and Mischief. Lyric laughed, and took up the song. "We travel to a store, so I might remember more - please forest, let this trip be a bore! Help us forest, to fiiind our way! Else we'll be stuck, travelliiing all day. April iiiis indeed, the month be-fore May."- 111813 replies

Malevolence shouted, and darkness coated him entirely, burning away the tendrils of Fog touching him, infecting the Narrator's essence with corruption. He swung Darkseeker, further spreading the liquid plague. "That would be very meaningful, if I knew who you were." His words were confident, but he was breathing hard. "Care to inform me, before your inevitable death?" Malevolence looked towards the guardian, frozen in time by the exit of its Author. Perfect. He thought. Perhaps I'll have time to deal with Fog first.- 111813 replies

Malevolence cursed again, teleporting a few feet away to escape her grip. Fortunately, local teleportation still seemed to work. He looked from the Guardian to Fog, then smiled. "You've trapped yourself here. Alone, without Ribbon to aid you. Forced to defeat not only me, but the Guardian as well if you want to get back to your friends. A poor move, in my estimation." Malevolence leapt to the side, dodging the flames near him. "I see this will be difficult!" He called. "But you will find me worthy of your Blade!" Lyric set off deeper into the forest, humming a cheery tune. He did not begin singing yet, perhaps waiting to see if Jack would begin instead. Omen threw up his legs in frustration. "Why do I bother with you? You're hardly sensical at the best of times! Still, I cannot allow you to leave with Mischief. The danger is too great."- 111813 replies

I am Ookla the Unintelligible. The voice said. I will fight Rebus, and Aelinor, former avatar of Sequence, has already sworn to do so. But first we must bury Sequence. "A character of @edgyswordname. He carries an... interesting individual within his mind, who could be a useful ally." A drone approached Malevolence and projected a hologram of Inkwell attacking Rebus. Malevolence raised an eyebrow. "It seems you had best hurry. Remember, I want him ali- Malevolence was cut off as a wall of water washed over him, teleporting him away. Malevolence let out a cry of pain as the air hit him, overwhelming his shields and searing the flesh of the arm he used to shield his face. He teleported away a moment later, appearing next to Atreides to begin their conversation. Malevolence blinked in shock. "Wha-" He attempted to activate his teleporter, but it failed, displaying an error message on his HUD. Malevolence cursed. "Shielded, I see." He said in an annoyed tone. He turned to face the Guardian. "Plot Significance? A dangerous Blade indeed. Particularly to me." He eyed it speculatively. "I wonder what would happen if it were turned against Rebus? Very well." Malevolence stepped forward, swinging Darkseeker vertically, slamming it into the ground to send a shockwave of darkness towards the Guardian. "I will have to let the little Narrators be, for now."- 111813 replies

"Nasty trick, that." Malevolence said, standing outside the dome. "Good thing I have a teleporter." He swung Darkseeker at the dome, since it was conveniently made from Fog's essence. "Malevolence grinned. "I refuse your chance, and offer one of my own: Give me your remaining half of a core, and I'll let you and the rest of your friends go unharmed." Malevolence spun, spikes of his liquid armor growing to pierce through the Host as he swung Darkseeker for its head. An instant before the attack connected, Fog grabbed the Host and dragged it away along with everybody not Malevolence in order to set up the dome. "Every voice adds harmony, even disharmonic ones." Said Lyric. "Now, shall we be going?" Omen squinted at the paper. "Is that Cricket? Yes, he did die. And no, I don't believe I can reach him. He has passed on to the depths of the World of Dreams, into a corner created by his Author." "Obviously not, or he would not hold his crown." Malevolence snapped. "You want to follow me? I accept your loyalty. Go find and capture Inkwell, if you can. Bring him to me alive, but be careful of his pen. It seems to be imbued with powers similar to Narration." I will fight him. Whispered a tired voice. After my task is complete.- 111813 replies

Malevolence stood where he was. "Let sunrise be." He said quietly. Once again, concentrated starlight slammed into Fog, much more powerful than before since Malevolence wasn't in Fog's immediate vicinity. "And Rebus," He said without looking at the place where the Antagonist had appeared, "The dyson sphere is hardly an original concept. Add in teleportation, and it's an obvious tack for weaponization." Malevolence snorted. "Of course, my mistake. I'm certain you were plotting weekend plans or talking about the weather. What possible reason could you have for considering me a threat?" A dozen drones appeared around Ribbon and opened fire, raining bullets, lasers, and missiles towards her. Malevolence walked towards the Host curiously, relying on his technology to distract the Narrator pair for the moment. "A curious creature." He pointed Darkseeker, firing a spike of liquid darkness at the Feathered Host's head. Omen sighed. "Meat, will you go with this creature of your own will?" @DragonHeir- 111813 replies

With a crackle and a bang, Nameless reappeared from his walk in the snow. It had been a nice walk, if a bit too cold for his wife to stay out for long. Now. He thought. Time to see if I can convince the other Authors to let Malevolence kill somebody. Well, actually it might be time for bed. Tomorrow, perhaps. Malevolence landed on the ground, confident and calm as he regarded Ribbon and Fog. He spun Darkseeker in front of him, ending with it at his side, held in one hand with blade towards the ground. "Plotting to defeat me?" He called. "Perhaps I should simply flee, do some plotting of my own." Liquid darkness flowed from the axe, coating Malevolence's body to form ever-shifting armor, pulsing with jagged spikes. "Or perhaps I don't need plotting. Perhaps I am strong enough to kill you both, here and now." He took a step forward. "Shall we find out?""W Malevolence can indeed not hear their mental conversation. "Well, I shall entreaty the forest, then." Lyric cleared his throat, then stopped and looked at Jack. "Perhaps you would like to sing along?" Omen sighed. "I hate doing this." He muttered. Then he began to change. In a moment, Omen was Rebus. Rebus wearing his crown of darkness, but with a darkness behind his eyes every bit as destructive, every bit as powerful, and quite a bit more dangerous. Then Omen was Meat the Minstrel. Then he was Bacon the Bard. Then he was a mix, Beatcon the Mardstrel, perhaps. He held up his hand, and in it hovered... something. The something looked rather papery. They were uncertain pages, if they were pages, and could not quite make up their mind as to whether they existed or not. But behind the pages, there was the same darkness that had been behind Rebus Omen's eyes. Beatcon Omen dissolved into smoke Omen. "Now do you understand? Bringing Meat to Rebus could spell doom to this Thread."- 111813 replies

"Perhaps you should go focus on Alli? She seems an easy target. I can handle Ribbon and Fog on my own." Electricity crackled across Malevolence's skin, but he was not burned by the extreme heat. He closed his eyes in focus, and darkness began to seep from the axe into Fog, burning, corrupting. "Perhaps you should be more careful what you touch." Malevolence said with a sneer. A dozen hovering drones appeared in crackles of lightning, arrows of water deflecting harmlessly off their sealed chassis. The drones locked onto Ribbon and opened fire with lasers and bullets. Nothing happened aside from a light flashing on Malevolence's shoulder. "Trace Nullite in the thread!" He explained. "I've done my research this time. No longer am I vulnerable to casual Narration." "Let us see..." considered Lyric. "Would the forest know where a store is?" Malevolence was too distracted by the battle to return a snarky reply. Well, sorry to leave y'all hanging for a bit, but I've got to go on a walk with my wife. It's snowing, and we only ever get that like once a year if we're lucky.- 111813 replies

"Excellent." Came Malevolence's reply. In that case, I'll just keep on going with my little head start. "Indeed." Murmured Lyric. "Let us be going." He brightened. "And of course, we shall need a travel song to guide us on our way!" Subversion nodded. "Of course. Well, if you need any more advice, I'll... be busy, maybe. We'll see." "Me." Malevolence confirmed. "Do I need your help? Perhaps." Malevolence's eyes glittered. "Think about how interesting it would be for Inkwell to watch you kill his new friends with his body." Darkness solidified in a sphere around Malevolence, blocking the water with a hiss. Then, abruptly, two spears of darkness shot outwards towards Ribbon's heart. Malevolence grunted, barely managing to hang on to his axe with a darkness-enhanced grip. "I've got just the thing for you, Fog." Malevolence said through gritted teeth. "Let sunrise be." A concentrated beam of starlight, teleported directly from the surface of a sun, slammed into the pieces of Fog touching Malevolence.- 111813 replies

Subversion snapped her fingers and an image appeared of Pree, lunging for Ribbon with a dagger. "Right there." Pree's glasses fell off as he was shoved back, and instantly his form changed. He grew taller, brown hair sprouting from his head, eyes shifting to a deep, sinister violet. Malevolence sheathed his black dagger, instead drawing a black battleaxe from his back with a wicked grin. "Yours? No, I think it will be mine. After all, I thought you all were planning to extract Narrator cores by force. Don't you want to see how it's done?" Black lines spread from Darkseeker across Malevolence's arm, and he shoved the fog away, regaining his feet. The knife stubbornly refused Ribbon's influence. And if Malevolence had been able to hear that other bit, he might have mentioned the nickname Cricket gave him.- 111813 replies

Pree nodded, then, in a flash, raised a black knife and lunged; not for Alli, but for Ribbon. He raised the knife, aiming for the spot on her chest Fog had just entered and exited. Subversion shrugged. "Never done it, so I can't say for sure. You could convince a withergeist to make one for you, or talk to a scientist like Balitan or a villain like Rebus or Malevolence. "Yes, yes, and yes. Mordite kills anything if you hit the core of their being. Glancing wounds are difficult even for Narrators to heal." Subversion shrugged. "As for wielding them, just be careful of hurting yourself, and don't bond it to your soul unless you want horrible corruptive side effects." -- "Hm. Question two: What would you do if a villain attacked this group right now?" "Here, allow me to show you." Pree walked closer to Alli, furtively pulling something from his pocket that might have been a pen." Pree glances over at Inkwell and grinned. Perfect distraction. He thought.- 111813 replies

Subversion appeared, looking rather grumpy. "Of all the times for Malevolence to be busy..." She muttered. "Interrupting my character development." She shook her head and focused on Dark Cep. "Mordite, yes? I have the knowledge necessary to help you." "Why... I suppose it is!" Dr. Pree smiled, reaching up and adjusting his glasses. "Pretenses are often useful, in my experience. As your Author can attest!" It wasn't Ribbon, but 'Pree' has already mostly decided that Inkwell and this group will be his chosen targets for the competition. If his 'acquaintance' (who is totally not Rebus) agrees, then one of them will probably give 9/10 a body as part of their evil machinations. "Great! Regulus blinked. This woman wanted to help him? This wasn't going at all like the stories he'd heard. Normally, the fair maidens who'd been kidnapped either sat patiently and waited for rescue doing nothing, or did all of the work on their own. "Um, that sounds like a good plan." He said. "But watch out for the smoke." He coughed again. "It's, er, dangerous." Unable to bear embarrassing himself in conversation any longer, Regulus stepped out from behind the stalagmite and snuck towards the sleeping dragon. Pree stood up seemingly from nowhere and approached Myles. "Hello! Would you be interested in filling out a survey related to new generation assessment?"- 111813 replies
