In the rare case that you were up against [dead] shardeplate, would a full set of aluminium armor or something alike essentially do the same thing...?

The aluminum itself would protect from the investiture based sharpness. But it can still be cleaved physically if it's thin. The aluminum gives way and ur flesh comes into contact and ur soul gets sliced.If it was thick enough and strong enough to withstand the non magical , physical stress then sure it would work.
The aluminum alloy used in bullets in era 2 would work excellently I suppose.
