What Are You Watching?
Kaladin-Stormblessed replied to Silverblade5's topic in Entertainment Discussion
Currently watching the Season 15 premiere for Supernatural. Probably going to binge Suits Season 9 after that and then cry about how all my favorite shows are ending -
Why did Vin not find out about the other metals?
Kaladin-Stormblessed replied to Kalaksbreath's topic in Mistborn
I believe Vin knew about the metals but was focused on ensuring that the battle went as planned and that Ruin didn't get a chance to take up the trust. However in Sazed's case, the war was done, the world was remade and he could now focus on the fact that the Lord Ruler had suppressed technology for so long. Thus he could provide them with additional knowledge that he had at his disposal. Spoiler for Mistborn Era 2 -

You Know You're a Sanderfan When...
Kaladin-Stormblessed replied to Shardbearer's topic in General Brandon Discussion
I don't know your relationship status. But if some guy comes up to you when you are dressed up as Shallan and tells you, "I would like to know the real you" in a total Adolin fashion - He might be the one. BUT if this happens - LOCK. HIM. DOWN. GIRL! -

how do i use this site also hello
Kaladin-Stormblessed replied to TheMothLord's topic in Introduce Yourself!
Hey there, welcome You should be glad that your friend got you on this site so early in your Sanderson journey. I stumbled across it when I was trying to find a community. Have fun with all the discussions and questions on here. Remember to stay away from the spoiler discussions cause a lot of Sanderson twists are best discovered when you read the books - Journey before destination after all, Can't wait for you to understand all the Sanderson references/jokes we crack on here -
After seeing Cara Delevinge in Carnival Row, I felt that she would be perfect as Vin. The only thing I am concerned about is her acting skills. But here is my cast Vin - Natalie Dyer (Stranger things) or Sarah Hyland (Modern Family) Elend - Daniel Gilles (The balance to Joseph Morgan from the Originals) Kelsier - Joseph Morgan (The Originals - I mean if you want that sort of charismatic leader who is reckless... do I need to explain more) or perhaps Ian Somerhalder Marsh - Paul Wesley if Ian Somerhalder is Kelsier Ham - Tom Hopper (Black Sails) or perhaps Manu Bennett (Arrow, Spartacus) Breeze - Peter Capaldi (Doctor Who, although I could consider casting him as Straff Venture Spook - Tom Holland (Spiderman) Clubs - Edward James Olmos (Battlestar Galactica) Dockson - Russell Crowe (Something like the Gladiator role he played) Sazed - Morris Chestnut (Initially I was thinking of Mike Colter who is known for playing Luke Cage but I felt that would be too big a built for Sazed. This is because while Sazed is tall, he is not as built as Colter unless he taps into his feruchemy) Tindwyll - Tilda Swinton (she did an amazing job in Dr. Strange) or perhaps Gina Torres (Suits, Firefly) Thoughts?

Would you rather
Kaladin-Stormblessed replied to Kaladin-Stormblessed's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
Interesting, but you forgot the most important part, you got to ask the NEXT "would you rather" question Would you rather Have a crossover duel between Kaladin and Kelsier OR Witness a courtroom style debate between Jasnah and Tindwyll -
The game is pretty simple - Two situations and you got to chose which one do you prefer and why. Answer the question and frame a question of your own. The next person answers and so on Would you rather Find out the story behind how and why Shallan first bonded with Pattern OR see Maya awakened by the end of "War of Rhythm"? (Remember, choosing one means the other one doesn't happen in the book )

Could Nightblood operate an Oathgate?
Kaladin-Stormblessed replied to Keeper Exile's question in Cosmere Q&A
Well first off, the Honorblades are not sprens if I m not mistaken. By my understanding, it seems that the common point between Honorblades and Shardblades is that they both contain Investiture. I think the way the oathgates work is when the Investiture in the Honorblade/Shardblades interact with the Oathgate spren, Oathgates are able to function. Nightblood on the other hand sucks up Investiture when drawn. My fear is if Nightblood is used, it could potential destroy the Oathgate permanently by eating up all the Investiture or power surrounding it. Therefore I don't think Nightblood could be used to make an Oathgate function. I am sure we should be able to find out the answer regarding this in the next book if Szeth is lingering around- 5 replies

Let's Discuss the Skybreakers.
Kaladin-Stormblessed replied to Daughter of Tanavast's topic in Stormlight Archive
Well in my opinion, the Skybreakers question their judgement about whether they truly know what is right or wrong. Therefore they believe that the law of the land defines what is right or wrong. As a Skybreaker progresses through his ideals, I believe he slowly evolves, starting from letting another define the law or principles for him, i.e most Skybreakers follow Nale and Szeth follows Dalinar and as the series progress (note - now this part is my theory), I believe that they get to the fifth ideal where they believe that they are the law of the land. This is them finally understanding themselves and starting to trust their moral judgement regarding what is right or wrong. This is just my take on it. I do agree with quite a few of the intrepretations that others have posted though -
Oh you have no idea how jealous I am of the position you are in. You still have the whole Brandon universe to explore. Enjoy and relish it cause you know read these book for the first time once

Saddest Cosmere Moment
Kaladin-Stormblessed replied to Elsecaller_17.5's topic in Cosmere Discussion
1) Tien's death for sure. The Stormlight Archives was the my introduction to the Brandon Sanderson universe. Despite knowing that Tien died, watching Kaladin break down as his men were trying to get to Dalinar and Adolin, watching him remember how wrong it goes for him every. single. time, he tries to do the right/honorable thing, watching his pain as he hears the callous manner in which it is taught to him that the weak are sacrificed so that the stronger can step over their dead bodies and claim high ground in a battle. It was the first time I had read Sanderson's words regarding a sad moment and it broke me 2) Tindwyl's death and Sazed's crisis of faith following that, wondering how could a divine being let bad things happen in the world, it hit a little too close to home -
[Theory] Skybreaker logic
Kaladin-Stormblessed replied to Kaladin-Stormblessed's topic in Stormlight Archive
Agreed that he seems to be hunting Radiants at Ishar's insistence. That brings up the question of Ishar's sanity though. After all, he was the one who came up with the Oathpact and the idea that one of them could stay behind to maintain the pact while the others didn't go back. Could that have possibly meant that Ishar is more broken than the rest of them. Perhaps Ash and Nale are in denial of Ishar being mad as they always saw him as the wise one. Furthermore, I feel that there is a reason behind Nale/The Skybreaker's fifth ideal being about them becoming the law of the land. I feel that a lot of it has to do with the fact that Nale and the Skybreakers are such a rule followers. I figure Nale to be the type of person who is a good soldier, following Ishar's word as law as he trusts him to be the wise one (We see Szeth doing the same regarding Dalinar). Perhaps the reason the fifth ideal is as such is because the Skybreakers are meant to break away from the rules, recognize that it is important for one to figure out your own moral choices and what you deem to be the rightful good. In Nale's case, he did come to the conclusion that he is the law, he possibly came around to agreeing with the mad Ishar's belief but it was never said that the fifth ideal meant that the Skybreaker would close the moral right, it was just said that they would choose what they think is right and consider that to be the law. --- Feel free to correct me if I am mistaken, this is just my understanding of the situation and I may be wrong. Hence I would love to have this discussion -
So I was thinking about this. When the false desolation occurs, it is possible that Nale was mad enough at this point to not recognize that an Unmade was the reason that the Parshendi were getting forms of power (after all, this was the first time, an Unmade was responsible for this). He might have considered it to be another desolation. Shortly after this, the Radiants gave up their shards (The Recreance) and then there was a prolonged period without any desolation until the events of Oathbringer. Perhaps by Nale's insane logic, he felt the absence of Radiants meant that the real cycle of desolation was broken. This could be the reason why he started hunting down Radiants to prevent them from growing in number again. Does this theory make any sense or are there holes in my logic? Does that line of thinking make sense?
