Do we have any information about footwear in the Cosmere other than Ym?
SirWatermelon replied to Oltux72's question in Cosmere Q&A
It's mentioned that both Adolin and Kaladin wear hogshide boots in WoR, and shallan wears slippers made of some sort of silk. The sandals would probably have been of the same materials, but of less quality than something a soldier would wear. I assume that horses would be too expensive to use for leather. -
Yeah, Trell is a person from Taldain and also a religion, I think that if it is another shard they would just be using the name for the reputation, or as a disguise.

useful things to store in Tin metalminds
SirWatermelon replied to That1GuySpencer's topic in Mistborn
Perhaps, might not be possible, the increased reaction time you get when burning a-atium could be stored, or just the natural sense of danger or awareness. Another unlikely one could be the ability to feel emotions, or the strength of the emotion, as I would classify those as senses that the brain creates and picks up. -

I believe that was supposed to be spiderman's powers, rather than senses stored. -
So, Mistborn era two takes place just after Stormlight 5. I've been thinking that Trell's incursion on Scadrial could have something to do with the events of Stormlight 5, possibly rell is forced out of their shard planet by odium, or is odium. Maybe Honor and Odium are combined to make trell, or Dalinar, being made to lead the voidbringers, goes by trell. I would love to hear your Trell based theories, and any information that could debunk my own.

Is it confirmed that aluminum can block speed bubbles? and if it dropped it would take time to put up another, enough to be a danger. But this idea is a great one, that would give a huge advantage to Bendalloy burners, even if you'd be shooting away a fortune.

This is also what I thought, that it just healed the cells that began to die, rather than renewing the oxygen itself.- 29 replies

Poll: Which power would you want
SirWatermelon replied to SirWatermelon's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Yes, that would be a great option, I wouldn't, however, say that any other option is a mistake, as I think that some other abilities would be much more useful in a normal life. Infinite healing is great, but would it help a lot in daily life outside of a dangerous situation? The reflexes are also tempered by pushing you to act and making it hard to stay still, which could be a downside. I do think Elsecaller is a wonderful option though, the transformation and transportation could be very useful.- 29 replies

I included both mistborn/ feruchemist and the misting and ferring, incase people wanted to focus on one area. If choosing surgebinding, misting, ferring, or twinborn, which powers would you want?

I do remember hearing something about that, but when he changed it so that feruchemists could physically touch toxic metals, I think that's when he decided that allomancers could as well.

There's actually a WoB which states that Allomancers are generally immune to metal poisoning. https://wob.coppermind.net/entry/14804 I think people in era one burned them off a precaution without realising this, but the idea that Wayne's healing could impact his physical age, maybe aligning it with his spiritual ideal, is interesting, and could definitely be a possibility.

I hadn't heard of that, that's very interesting. I just assume it would become an annoyance having to regularly reset your watch, and any other timepiece in the bubble. This could also probably be used to your advantage in a very few cases, if you're alone in a room with someone, and could put up a bubble without them knowing you could change their watch time. That would be very convoluted and too hard to pull off to be practical.

Rereading Alloy of Law, and a thought struck me, gear powered watches would be completely messed up by either of the temporal metals. If, say Wayne, was to burn Bendalloy to create a speed bubble around him, and watches inside would also be sped up, coming out of the bubble ahead of everyone else's. A similar thing would happen with Cadmium, the watches outside of the bubble would be ticking much faster than those inside, but they would be standard time, leaving the watch inside behind.

While I think that a radiant, especially one of a higher ideal, would be insanely powerful, In the real world, metals would be easier to acquire, and if you had unlimited investiture, I still feel as if in our current world a mistborn would be more useful. Huge metal skyscrapers, and metal everywhere, pewter for endurance in everyday activity, emotional allomancy could be used in arguments or politics, and the temporal allomancy could used, though in less situations. Any one of the powers could make you famous, you could be a vigilante or magician, with pewter you could win any fighting tournament. For Radiants, assuming access to stormlight, lashings could be used for travel, much like steel/iron, regrowth could be insanely helpful, along with transformation. you could solve hunger, make valuable metals, work in destruction with either transformation or division, cohesion and the axial connections. Shardblade and shardplate would make you unstoppable. if you could make your blade a gun as seen in the unpublished sixth of dusk that'd be good. The only thing I could see hurting the plate would be missiles or bombs. Ultimately I would have to say mistborn, as their abilities are less flashy.

My thought was that harmony had provided some, or knowledge of how to produce bendalloy. And the point you bring up about the spikes is one I hadn't thought of, with no known bendalloy mistings to spike, and mistborn being too valuable, it's unlikely he would have them at the time or at all. However, we do know that the land that would become Elendel is bountiful, so he could've started a small farm, or gotten food from the townsfolk during the 350 year period. Maybe just until he could acquire those spikes. I couldn't find any note about this on the coppermind page, but perhaps similarly inquisitors age more slowly than humans, they also need to eat less, just as koloss can subsist on dead plants under the ash.

For the food issue, I would assume compounding bendalloy, for caloric energy, which would require very little food to keep him sustained. If I'm understanding how that works correctly.

So, I just finished my oathbringer re-read and have come up with a theory about the heralds. oathbringer spoilers my theory is that the oathpact bound together the souls of the heralds, part of the reason is probably so that they could share the pain of torture, but also it is possible that this was also done to cement them together to the oathpact. Oathbringer spoilers. The second part of my theory is that Odium will use this to make/ replace the heralds, meaning that in order to stop the fused from returning after death, odium's new heralds would need to be dispatched. thoughts? Any Wob that make or break this theory, or any things that you can point out?

what are your thoughts for an Elantrian using aondor to enhance or create weapons/ armor? the main ones I've come up with are using aons create a weapon similar to a gun, my idea for this is to have an aon create a burst of compressed air to launch the bullet, which would have aons inscribed on it activated upon contact with a surface. these would cause effects such as expanding or catching fire. other Aons could be inscribed onto the barrel of the gun for stabilization against recoil, or used kinda like a silencer.

Can you put two soul stamps on one object?
SirWatermelon replied to Rosharan A.C.'s topic in Elantris and Emperor's Soul
I don't know if this specifically answers your question, but at some point during the emperor's soul, shai soulstamps a wall to add a mural. to do so multiple stamps are used, the first two describing how it would have been made, and the final actually changing the wall. -
That seems to be a larkin, but it is always fun to believe there may be dragons

Aonic Plate Armour
SirWatermelon replied to The Grumpy Elantrian's topic in Elantris and Emperor's Soul
That's a fair point. You would have to keep it from getting scratched. So maybe if you had a protective layer of metal over it, or just put it inside the armor. -
Thank you, I didn't know you could do that.
