    Careful, came a voice from afar. All this started when someone deviated from the plot.

    Star smiled and kissed him back, taking his face in her hands. "I love those eyes," she said tearfully. Kay, I'll be back in about a half hour. Edit: Like now.

    "You have to go," Star said. "I'm going to miss you. But I think it's okay now. We'll be alright. All of us." She let go of him and looked over at Pheonix, staring at the floor. She would have to do something about that later.

    Star hugged Marsh. "I'm so, so, so sorry," she said.

    Oh no... No, Star thought. I could have turned back time and brought him back. But I didn't. I didn't because he deserves his rest. She stepped toward Marsh anyway. Spikeless and perfect. She smiled "Hey," she muttered, tears forming in her blue eyes. She felt crushingly unworthy. This isn't permanent, is it?

    Not much. Well, that's a lie. Just read it - it's worth it and it won't take long.

    Star cocked her head. "What are you doing?"

    Star shook her head. "I won't fight."

    Star didn't want to face the rest of them. She had done terrible things. But the warmth she felt now could almost make her believe it was okay. "Thank you so much," she said.

    Star wrapped her arms around Pheonix, weeping. Her crown melted away, and her Shardplate was replaced by a purple blouse.

    If I can, I always put strawberries and whipped cream on my waffles. I don't like syrup all that much.

    "I'm trying. But I can't forgive myself. I can't stop hurting people. I don't want to wake up. I deserve this."

    Star held his fiery gaze for a second, then looked away. "I can't," she whispered. "He's gone..."

    Star knew in her heart that she was evil. There was a spark of hope that someone could fix that for her. But it was dying.

    Star closed her eyes, tears rolling down her cheeks. She didn't believe him. It felt good anyway. They'll never forgive me.

    But you've seen it. I'm broken, worthless, and outdated. They'll never accept me. And, storm it, I can never stop myself from fighting.
