    Star smiled to herself, her condescending nature kicking in. I don't understand you. And I'm not sure I want to. But you need some love, little one.

    Star looked over at the pitiful drunk man. She knew he had erased her from existence. But who knew what could happen? She touched his mind, curious and sympathetic.

    This needs to end, Star thought. She felt blood beginning to pour from a wound on her stomach. She had been knocked over and damaged when she had attacked Silence. She would only be healed if this stopped. If it didn't let up soon... she would die.

    Star was severely tempted to help him because of her nature but was unable to do anything.

    "ENOUGH OF THIS!" The violet goddess descended from her perch, gliding onto the Narrational plane. As she did so earthquakes stopped, reality reweaving at her whim. She grabbed Narrator Silence by the throat and stared at him with a piercing, amethyst gaze. "It is time someone spoke Silence to you." Her icy breath fell upon his face and she began to crush the life out of him. "I make the rules," she growled. His neck snapped and she dropped his lifeless form to the earth. Then she turned to Xino, fury plastered on her face. "And you," she whispered, enraged. "I have watched my characters suffer for pages upon pages and you keep them going. Star begged for mercy and you cast her aside as if she were nothing but a mindless character. She is dying! I'm beginning to think you care less about the lives of the people in this world than the plot. You are an arrogant coward and unless you bow to me this instant, I will have no choice but to banish you. I am merciful, but when you encroach upon the existence of my characters in such a profane way, I will come at you like a highstorm. Don't try and get out of this. I am more powerful than you could possibly imagine."

    Embed glared at the words, summoning her control over the Void and fusing both realities together. She used every bit of her power, every bit of strength to pull them back toward each other. And Star raged. She grabbed Silence's mind with the force of all 16 Shards as only a Narrator could do and she forced upon him all her pain. Every memory, every word of torture and betrayal set upon her shoulders.

    Ember understood things now that she hadn't before. She understood sacrifice. She entered Xino's mind and cut through his will to hold out. I am sorry, she thought to him. One life for many.

    Star looked to her Author. Please. Don't make me do this. I will not. Ember appeared, decked in her shell-like armor. "I am... free," she whispered. She looked at Xino. He is fading, she thought to herself. I cannot allow that. With her considerable telepathic power, she grabbed his mind, infusing it with power to give him the strength to hold on.

    Star sighed, shaking her head. She propped herself up on shaking arms then rose to her feet. Her entire body trembled, but she stood tall despite the pain. “I’ve realized something, Xino. It’s just like Queen of Shadows; the monsters only come because we Narrate it. We cause our own pain. I tried to protect Marsh by becoming a character and look where it got me. I’ve undergone more trauma than anyone I can think of besides Taln himself. At least Butt was mostly unconscious while his worlds were destroyed. We have done terrible things in our selfish desire to continue. I have, you have, we all have.” She took a deep breath. “If you truly want this, then I will go with you. I will fight because if I don’t, it will eat at me. I attack to defend. But when you look at me, just know; I am tired. It’s draining me.” She raised her burnt hand to eye level, watching it shake uncontrollably. “It hurts,” she said, starting to weep. “It hurts so badly.” She turned away. “I am so sorry…”

    I was in English and had access to colored pencils. I think you know what happened next. I did this on the same sheet of paper as the handerfle. I hope Ember can come back as her own character. She's ridiculously OP in her current state, but maybe something could change. I had fun writing her.
