  1. "And you do?" she said, exasperated. "Nobody wants to read about a Character Theory nerd..." Oh the irony... Also, seriously, Michael has the best one-liners.
  2. The tears that had begun to build when Heather yelled at her began to spill from Ember's eyes, making a cloud around her face. It wasn't just this day it was everything. She was worthless. She had known she was worthless from the very beginning, but having other people see it too... She had pledged her loyalty to Star, she knew her Directive. She was just so bad at fulfilling it. TVG must hate her now... She had thought that she was doing something good by becoming friends with Heather, but apparently she had done something to ruin it. Just like always. Everything she got her hands into burned. Because that was her very nature. To destroy. She couldn't do anything else.
  3. "I'm just not! I can't swing a sword worth crem and every time there's confrontation I get so scared and I run away and hide... Star wouldn't do that. Ember, Thought... But I'm just Sophie."
  4. "Yes... All my sisters... they're heroes and I just..."
  5. Sophie pulled away, wiping her eyes... before collapsing into sobs again. "I'm such a coward..." she whined.
  6. Sophie hugged Michael tightly, still sobbing. "Thank you!" she said. "Thank you, thank you, thank you!"
  7. "If this is about me distrusting you, I'm sorry!" Sophie yelled frantically. "Get me out!" she cried. "Get me out!"
  8. Sophie cried. Sobbed, really. She was only 4 pages away from her 150th birthday. She could hear the other Narrators trying to destroy the plot, but it was no use. Plot was the family curse. And she couldn't escape it.
  9. Sophie whimpered, curling up into a tighter ball. She had never been more afraid in her life. "Oh, Author, please," she whimpered. "I don't want to die... I don't wanna..."
  10. Today's prompt is "Frail" and for it, I've decided to do what is arguably my favorite scene in all of CBST. I am of course talking about when Star hugged Shadow. Shards, Star and her magic hugs, am I right? I was a little lazy on this one - I just inked over a doodled I had done as practice. Hugs are hard, you guys. Hands are hard. Clothing folds are hard. But depression is hard too, isn't it, Shadow? It's why those moments when you are soft and frail are so precious.
  11. Ember wanted to touch Heather's mind and find out what was wrong. But that would be rude. Intrusive. Heather wanted her gone, so she would leave. Well... sit outside the door. That wasn't "leaving." Ember got up again, feeling ashamed of herself. The room she went into had a mirror on the wall. Ember got into an offensive stance, throwing her hand to the side in preparation to summon her blade. But before she could, her eyes widened. That was her. She had never seen her reflection before. All of a sudden she realized why people thought of her the way they did. She was tall and unnaturally skinny with a rough outer shell and giant glass eyes. As she approached the mirror slowly, she ran her fingers over her face and through her hair - well, it wasn't really hair, actually. It was thousands upon thousands of tiny stands of metal. No one could see the difference. But she could feel it. She started sniffling. Why hadn't anyone told her she was so ugly? She really was a monster... Not a person. Not even human.
  12. Should I be... angry? Ember thought. I don't think Star would like that Heather was mean to me... But she cares more about Heather than she does about me. So I must be the one at fault. Bad Ember. Bad girl. Star trusted you. And you've done nothing but fail.
  13. Ember couldn't hold her gaze as she got up. "Okay... okay..." She wrapped her arms around her waist and walked out, sitting outside of the door against the wall. She was too shocked to cry. Heather hadn't been like that before... Was there something wrong with Ember? There must be... She just wasn't right here. People didn't like her. People were afraid of her. And Star would be too, eventually.
