Unity and Honor, Harmony and Discord
Xavier Iriarte replied to Ripheus23's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I've heard that Honor was splintered when killed by Odium and as such maybe Unity is one of those splinters, a part of the shard of honor but not nearly the full thing -

Stormlight Archive Characters in Hogwarts!
Xavier Iriarte replied to Kelsier'sGodComplex's topic in Stormlight Archive
Man, i'm gonna have to challenge Kaladin. He is not what any character in the book would describe as 'agreeable' everyone always mentions how he always seems angry, not very hufflepuff. In my mind he is definitively a Slytherin or a Gryffindor, but much more of a Gryffindor- 9 replies

Question about the Diagram, Dalinar, and Taravangian.

Question about the Diagram, Dalinar, and Taravangian.
Xavier Iriarte replied to Dalakaar's topic in Stormlight Archive
It's weird, i never thought of Taravangian as a villain, i didn't even suspect people thought of him that way. All throughout the books i saw him as a conflicted character doing what he thought was good for the greater number of people. He did some pretty bad stuff in the process, but honestly, so has Dalinar, Kaladin, Adolin, etc. I really like Taravangian. -

Let's do some stormlight archive haikus, i'll start The wind blows faster I see the stormwall ahead A highstorm is here (For those who don't know a haiku is a poem with 3 verses that don't rhyme and have 5-7-5 syllables)
-
I actually felt the opposite. I didn't really like him in book one, i started to like him in book two and when Tindwyl took over and he started acting like a king i actually loved him! I gues it's just based in the kind of character you like, i like regal, powerful characters who inspire respect in other people (See Dalinar, Kaladin and Jasnah).

Am i the only one who desperately wanted Taravangian to join the good side?

Maybe i phrased it incorrectly. My question was, are you born a misting but unlock acces to that power when you snap. Or are you a regular human and actually first aquire the power when you snap. It appears it is the former
-
Reading mistborn my understanding was that you are born as a misting or mistborn and that ability shows when you snap. But reading the stormlight archive and some WoB's provided to me by @Invocation make me think that maybe when you snap you actually aquire the powers, you didn't previously have them. Does any one have more information regarding thus matter?

This. Seeing all the bridgemen refusing a chance to escape just to follow Kaladin and help him save Dalinar is beautiful. Also one of my favourite moments is when Kaladin crosses the bridge alone without stormlight (which seems foolhardy) but then you realise all the parshendi have gems woven into their beards and he just sucks in all of that stormlight and goes full radiant on them. I was very very very excited

Today i was listenning to Dirt and Roses by Rise Against, a song i've liked for at least a year, but as i am reading Elantris right now, i realized the song fits the story (in Raoden's POV) perfectly so i wanted to share it with you As i said, i am currently reading Elantris for the first time so i would apreciate no spoilers in the answers, thanks! (BTW i don't know if it is not allowed to link videos, if it's not please do tell me)

It's fine, thank you! I sometimes feel overwhelmed by the ammount of information about the cosmere that is out there, after having read 10 Sanderon books i still feel like i know nothing.
-
May i ask how do you know this? I know in mistborn it is fully disclosed, bit i didn't realise it applied for every magic system. Is this known through WoB's?
-
I agree, since the stakes are so high, every character has an important role and it's just super exciting, plus Dalinar refusing to give his pain away to Odium is one of the best things i have ever seen

The endings to all of the books of the stormlight archive are incredible, but they are incredible in their own ways. First i want to clear that when i refer ro WoK ending i mean the battle of the tower, with WoR i mean the battle between humans and parshendi/the battle between Kaladin and Szeth, and in OB the battle of Thaylen city. The ending of WoK is amazing in a different way to the other two for it includes (almost) no supernatural things. The central points are the betrayal of Sadeas, the decision of bridge four of saving Dalinar and the battle that followed. I especially like this one because it's the first time Kaladin and Dalinar (my two favourite characters) meet. I amost screamed of happiness. WoR's ending is fantastic because you see Kaladin save the king by swearing the 3rd ideal and saving Syl, the amazing fight against the assasin in white, the first everstorm and the battle between human and parshendi, leading to the discovery of urithiru. OB's ending is the most epic in scale, fighting against Odium, the thunderclasts, Sadeas' army overrun by the thrill, the fused, etc. Dalinar actually becoming a god of sorts(?) Shallan taking her power to a new level and Amaram finally being killed (by rock no less) With that said (i might be missing some important things, feel free to mention them) my favorite ending is WoK's, everything built up to that moment and seing Dalinar trade his shardblade for the bridgemen got my heart pounding in my chest. Which one is your favourite and why? Journey before destination

Well i always thought Dox was the smart one of the group, so i'd say Ravenclaw. As for Marsh i'd actually say he is Gryffindor, he is very noble and brave, he accepted becoming an inquisitor for the good of the plan and ultimately of the world. All of the bad stuff he did was under control of Ruin. But admitedly those 2 houses seem almost interchangeable

I think Vin would be a Gryffindor and regarding the Kelsier matter i'm fairly sure he would be a Slytherin. Wax would be somewhere between Gryffindor and Ravenclaw and i can see Wayne in Hufflepuff Also i think there is a case to be made for Sazed in Hufflepuff instead of Ravenclaw, but either would work

Here are some more ●"Son," Dallet interrupted [...] "you are going to be fine" "How can you know" "Because, lad. You're in Kaladin Stormblessed's squad" The other soldiers nodded in agreement ■This conversation between Dallet and Cenn (a 15 year old recruit) shows how everyone sees Kaladin as a larger than life figure and infallible ●"With so many wounded on the field, how can we think that the runners will come for us?" "Squadleader Kaladin bribes them" Dallet said. "They usually only carry off lighteyes but [...] the squad leader puts most of his money into bribes" ■Another conversation between Cenn and Dallet that shows how Kaladin deeply cares about the people around him, much more than money ●"I'll have to stay behind," Kaladin said "What?" Moash demanded "Someone will need to'" Kaladin said "If i stay behind i can support the story [...]" "we're not leaving without you" Sigzil said. Many of the others nodded. ■Kaladin offers the bridgemen the oportunity to escape and finally be free with the only cost being Kaladin stays. They refuse. That's how much of an impact he had on them. ●"How do you know," the king asked him, "how to be a hero?" "Your majesty?" Kaladin asked "A hero [...] everyone loves you bridgeman. You saved Dalinar, you fought shardbearers, you came back after falling into the storming chasms! How do you do it? how do you know? ■Even king Elokhar treats him with reverence, everyone knows he is a hero, brave and seemingly always knows what to do ●"Ha!" Lunamor said. Finding a smile on your face, Kaladin Stormblessed, is like finding a lost sphere in your soup. Surpising, yes, but very nice too" ■This speaks to Kaladin's attitude, he is always worried, angry or sad, rarely happy ●Rlain nodded. Kaladin was a good man. For all his faults, he tried more than the rest of them ■Rlain, a parshman, always felt left out, but even he could see Kaladin tried hard to make him feel at home ●"No," Elokhar said. "You'll do what i command. Be extraordinary, Captain. Nothing else will suffice" [...] Those rumors had become a challenge, creating for everyone the notion of a man who was like Kaladin, but at the same time greater than he could ever be. ■Everyone looks up to Kaladin, but sometimes he feels like he can't fulfill the role of "Kaladin Stormblessed" ●He felt good a lot of days. Trouble was, on the bad days, that was hard to remember. At those times, for some reason, he felt like he had always been in darkness, and always would be. Why was it so hard to remember? ■I just love this because it feels so real. When Kaladin gets hit by depression he can only look at the bad things, and focuses only on the negative aspects of the situation. ●After what he's been through, Adolin thought, i wouldn't have expected that anything could faze him. Not even Elhokar's death. ■Kaladin put up a facade, on who is always strong, but deep down he cares about everyone, and he hurts. ●Kaladin is tougher than a wind-tossed boulder, Brightbess, Teft had told her. He survived bridge four, he survived the chasms and he'll survive this ■This further proves my last statement. Everyone believes this facade that Kaladin puts up, even when he doesn't believe in himself, everyone else does ●They weren't supossed to go up there, but sometimes rules didn't seem to apply to Kaladin Stormblessed ■Kaladin is very intimidating, people that know him respect him for who he is, but people that don't know him respect him for how he looks ●Even in a battle with multiple radiants, there was something about the way Kaladin flew, the way he moved ■Even Shallan who is bethroded to Adolin, a very handsome man, recognizes Kaladin as being special, and attractive Sorry it took me so long, i went through all 3 books in my Kindle and this is what i found, hope it helps!
