  1. Those are really good points, especiallythe Word of Brandon. Mostly what had made me think that Odium wasnt completely wrong is because of some of the Unmade. Mostly Nergaoul and Ashertman which weren't pure hatred. As for Impulse being not a good name for an Intent. I see the point that it doesn't provide an obvious direction because it suggests action without thought. I think at least one other Shard (Devotion) seems to not come with a clear direction though I haven't looked for that much information about (her?). For a definition, it might be something like, "The Intent to act without restraint (which could include things like better judgement and respect for others)". Which still doesn't work that well. It could weirdly work as some sort of alternate take on Autonomy.
  2. Hello again. When I read Oathbringer I found Odiums argument that he was mpre than divine hatred to be spmewhat convincing. But at the same time his claim that his shard represents all emotions, all Passions to be lackluster. Since then I have wanted to come up with a convincing way to rebrand Odium to better show his scope without obscuring the darker aspects of the intent. And a day or two ago a word came to me, Impulse. Impulse referring to well impulses. Fight or Flight. Lust and Greed. All the darker instinctual parts of the mind. It isn't entirely negative though and can include things like the passionate defense of your loved ones. But Impulse is still a dangerous intent to embrace.
  3. Weirdly my assumption when reading about the darkened portion of the diagram took it almost literally. That it had originally been a line of thought that Taravangian had started on then stopped/crossed out because he knew that it would be something important that Odium would miss of it wasn't written out. For the Diagram and it's true intentions. I think the stated plan of the diagram is it's plan if Plan A, the complicated Taravangian is a triple agent scheme, doesn't work. So the Diagram provides precise instructions on how to carry out Plan B while secretly laying the groundwork of Plan A. Last, on Cultivations long term planning abilities... It would be amusing if she wasn't good at long term planning and setting up carefully payed plans. But at the same time she is still a goddess with Divine foresight and the capacity to consider the implications of her actions. She doesn't exactly scheme to craft Dalinar into a Knight Radiant to oppose Odium. Her awareness passes over Dalinar and suddenly she understands what he is and what he could be. So she pushes him to grow into the best he could be.
  4. That is really interesting and the other day I was thinking about Hemalurgy. Just that Hemalurgy is a lot more complicated than Surgebinding and Allomancy. Those have a few defined ideas but this is more open ended, so I was wondering how much Brnadon had worked out. A decent amount it seems looking like this. Also, this might not be the best place, but I have a theory on how Kelsier was resurrected. I have no idea how they might have put him into one or more spikes but what if the underlying body was a mistwraith? Kandra are mistwraiths given identity and sapience through their blessings but what if you put something more complicated in the spikes. Also he might be built around his original bones because I saw a WoB about those things still being around somewhere.
  5. About the idea that Odium employs Moelach to gather prophecies of use to him. That makes sense to me, but based on some of the discussion I have an idea for why he does this. He is doing it to see around his blind spots. If his power of prophecy is limited in some way be his nature then by making thousands of mortals make their own small prophecies he can see things he might otherwise miss. Edit: Glad I checked that I had already posted here. If we go by the colored light thing Odium is using the Death Rattles to try and see things in another light. While each Rattle wont tell him much with thousands he can double check his predictions and see if something big is going on in his blindspots. Also for Moeloch and locstion. It could be like Moeloch is a spider with a thousand reaching legs. Many are short and can't stray far from the maim body. Others are long and can reach across the world. But the long ones have much more area to cover and cannot pick up all deaths in an area.
  6. Hello, first time poster, I should reread the latest book. My main thought from the thread was an observation about the comparison with the duel Sadeas agreed to. I think it is possible that Adolin ends up being the champion of the shard previously existing as honor because of his association with duels. Which suddenly gives me the image of him running into OD in a back room and killing him. As for Odium's choice, Adolin, Moash, Taravangian seem reasonable characters but none of them seem just right. Maybe the knight radiant working for Taravangian or one of his other subordinates. A Vorin priest or one of Shallan's family could be interesting but would need development.
