I'll keep it in mind then! Wait is there a place where people keep track of what questions need to be asked? That would be convenient

I feel like this has probably already been addressed, but why would the cryptic be worth so much? Yeah it grants powers, so what if they ended up destroying the castle, but why were they willing to do so much in the first placer for the spren?

Is there a point to Sebarial?
Mailnaise replied to Toaster Retribution's topic in Stormlight Archive
And I mean, no character is perfect! If they were they wouldn't be interesting to read. So Sebarial being who he is, Lift being sometimes annoying, etc, is one of the reasons Brandon is such a fantastic writer, which is why we're all here. -
Ugly Cosmere err Christmas Sweaters

I would totally buy one, 100% Can we get his rolling for next year? -
This theory is great I've heard it a couple times...(shardcast lol) Anyways, I like the theory and I believe it.

Is there a point to Sebarial?
Mailnaise replied to Toaster Retribution's topic in Stormlight Archive
That's a bold claim. No, I agree that Lift is a fantastic character. Maybe not the best, or my favorite, but I mean this is a Sanderson story. There are soo many good ones. -
And I mean, there may not be Szeth flashbacks quite yet, but now that he is working with the Radiants and POV characters, we will learn at least a little more about him this coming book.

I agree, and I think people, including myself, wish it was Venli, because she'll know more about what's going on, and I personally don't like it when a character, in this case Eshonai, is left in the dark about something. However, the third party idea is unique and is totally something Brandon would do, and I mean there's a reason he's my favorite author, so I think I'll just trust him on this one. Either way, I'm okay with it. I've been more excited for the story itself and not the flashbacks every time.

I was actually talking about this a bit in another thread- Now that we know what we know about how the Listeners were on Roshar first, there will be a lot of moral and ethical dilemmas, which our characters will have to sort through soon, at one point or another. Knowing more about the Listeners from Eshonai's perspective and hopefully more about them from long ago will give us as reader more perspective into the issue and show more points that must be considered before people can really pick sides in the war and struggle to come. (Kinda reminds me a bit of the newest fantastic beasts movie if you've seen i; all of the characters have now made their decision of which side they'll be ultimately fighting for.)

Okay well maybe annoyed wasn't the best choice of words. I guess I'm just saying her being too lighthearted in the situation was supposed to be really obvious, and I guess some people find that annoying? I don't really get it because Lift is honestly one of my favorite characters. -

I think we as readers were supposed to feel annoyed at her in that situation. Dalinar certainly would be and as we read we are supposed to connect to the characters are their feelings. Also, like @dantlee said, that's how she, as a 13 year old girl, deals with her experiences. -
Hey this is my little sister! She's great, and new to the cosmere!
Love ya, sis

Is there a point to Sebarial?

That makes a lot of sense! The Parshendi have really got the short end of the stick for centuries. They were overrun by humans, and then came Odium turning some into fused and starting the desolations. Venli is definitely going to be the catalyst for that realization and subsequent changes in the war. -

Mailnaise replied to Toaster Retribution's topic in Stormlight Archive
The next book, now that we know the Parshendi's justification for fighting, will really have to explore the moral implications of the war, and characters will have to make desicions on who they're going to fight for, etc. People are really going to have to pick their sides. I'm looking forward to it. -
Like Brandon said, with a kandra the spikes might drive spren away, but hey, it's still possible. I feel like a Returned could bond a spren. I mean Vasher on Roshar can use stormlight instead of Breath to stay alive, so that's evidence Returned can use other kinds of investiture.

@equinox I don't mind if you change the topic a bit...conversations like this are what make the forum fun. Also thanks, @Scion of the Mists. Do you have a quote about him seeing the cryptics? I know he's paranoid about not having half his vision, but as of WoK, I didn't catch any mention of cryptics and Gaz.

When it comes to art, I know I'm nothing special, but I had fun with these ones...a friend of mine let me borrow her white jelly roll pen and I think it made it awesome. Also I originally got Kimmalyn's hair wrong, so that's as good as I was able to get it. I'll tey again some other time.

K so hopefully nobody else has talked about this, (I'm not about to go looking through all of the posts about Elhokar in OB), because I don't want to look stupid. Anyways, I read the Stormlight Archive for the first time this last summer, and after reading all of Brandon's cosmere works, (+Skyward, Rithmatist, etc.), I decided to re-read Stormlight to better participate on here. While reading today, I found this, said by Elhokar... That description sounds an awful lot like pattern when Shallan first sees him in her drawings...If I'm right it means even before Elhokar starting to speak the oaths in OB, (even before any stuff with Wit or whatever that was I don't remember), we had foreshadowing/evidence in PART 4 of WoK, that Elhokar could become a Lightweaver. I really hope no one else has found this and I'm not waaaaaaaay late.

But if you've read Brandon's books, you also know anything is possible... Warbreaker, anyone? Lopen actually just being comedy is still proof that Palona and Sebarial could be anything.
