  1. It seems that the bondsmiths all bonded with super powerful spren like the Stormfather. Entities like that would not want to condescend to the level of being a puny human's little sword. In fact, the Stormfather told Dalinar as much at the end of WoR. Dalinar forced the issue in OB, which caused a bit of conflict between the two. It goes back to the inconvenient problem of your sword being a sentient entity who has to choose to be your sword. Word of advice, Radiants. Be nice to your spren.
  2. I think we wouldn't want to be too hasty in interpreting that statement from the back of WoK. We aren't sure that one of our favorite heroes will turn evil and serve Odium (unless I'm missing something. However, I like @king of nowhere's explanation.
  3. What. That blows my theory. If Hoid doesn't have it my next guess is the ghostbloods. They're the type of people to steal a super powerful weapon and not use it at all.
  4. Haven't gotten to read Liar, unfortunately. Where do I find that?
  5. Granted. You now have the many personalities of the character from Sanderson's book Legion. However, all of your personalities share an urge to insult you constantly. I wish for Adonalsium to be reformed--just for a moment--so that he can use infinite power and wisdom to create the most infinitely delicious piece of bacon in the universe. And then I want to eat it. Also please don't take my taste buds.
  6. Hey, thanks for the welcome! No, but Elend is one of my favorite characters. My wife and I can definitely relate to our respective characters. I'm sarcastic, laid back, and a tad insecure, but a passionate idealist. Sound familiar? Favorite characters...Well, Elend for sure. Kaladin too, for similar reasons, and Dalinar. Least favorite...Tyndwyl. She's kind of arrogant and she's mean to my Elend I have mixed feeling about Jasnah. She's pretty boss, and very smart, but she gets on my nerves sometimes. Favorite books...used to be mistborn trilogy, but I've been starting to lean more toward Stormlight Archive as that has been getting progressively more awesome. My wife is a solid Stormlight fan. I will say that I prefer his fantasy works, as opposed to say the Reckoners series (which is good, but not Stormlight good).
  7. I have gotten the impression from the various comments by/about Hoid that he had been a companion or at least an acquaintance to the people who shatterred Adonalsium. So I doubt he was Adonalsium at that time. However, another possibility is that during the events that resulted in Adonalsium's shattering, Hoid held Adonalsium's power for a brief time (like Kelsier holding Preservation's power during Secret History). Perhaps it was part of the plan to shatter him, or perhaps Hoid was tricked. In this case, if a powerful stone were involved in Hoid's temporary ascension, it would be a stone that became worthless because he posessed it, since it resulted in the Shattering. It would also explain how Hoid has immortality without possessing a shard.Once again the example is in Secret History, where after holding Preservation, Kelsier was able to stay in the CR indefinitely. (note from my Sanderson nerd wife) She wonders if the one who held Adonalsium before Hoid had been the original posessor of the name Hoid. He mentions in Stormlight Archive that the name had been stolen from someone dear to him. This seems to explain all the loose ends. It allows Hoid to have known the original shatterers when they were all mortals, but also allows for him to have possessed Ad.'s power once. I think it fits.
  8. Hey all! I've been a Sanderson fan for quite some time, ever since my wife and I discovered the mistborn trilogy. Now we've read almost everything he's written, and enjoy discussing our pet theories with our sanderson friends. Nice to meet you all.
