  1. Cool, but this will have to wait about a week. Gotta finish NaNo, then actually write one up. I do have cool template that covers a lot of bases in case someone else wants to write one. It's from another forum, but I found that it works pretty well.
  2. I would like to announce that I beat Final Fantasy XIII this week! And that I'm ahead of schedule on NaNoWriMo! *happy dance* Also, Miyabi, it's about time you got here!
  3. I know two people who are going to be in it. Josh and Mi'chelle. BOOYAH. No, really, they're supposed to make a cameo, in name only I'm guessing. It's gonna be awesome.
  4. Well, we don't know if the honorspren are a voluntary thing, but it's probable that the Heralds are the result of such a thing.
  5. When do they start giving out ARCs? And I've got a WoK ARC, does that count against me?
  6. Magicians can manipulate water, but only while inebriated. Towels are a preferred tool as they are flexible, hold lots of water and have a nice slap to them when they hit something. Okay, my prompt is a little complicated. I'm wondering if this is okay with the rules, so let me know if I'm crossing a line. The next poster is to lay down ground rules for a magic system and leave a prompt, the poster after that develops those rules further and leaves their own prompt and the third poster has to use BOTH prompts. Elemental Magic Without Telekinesis Style Control of the Elements
  7. No, not the fall! That's too late!
  8. I just got to 22100 words. I'm having a blast fleshing out my world. Figuring out how mundane things work in the setting or making up peripheral characters on the spot. It's quite fun.
  9. A guy who can shapeshift, but can never lie, thus making any deception he tries to pull off completely meaningless.
  10. Actually kind of disappointed that it'll be a published book. I was hoping to read it before going on my mission, but it doesn't look like it now. Darn Tor and snatching it up.
  11. Well, I'd prefer to keep them in this board rather than have them in GD. Since having so much stuff (forum games, discussion topics, etc) on that board would make keeping track of the RPs more difficult. We already have an RP board set up and it's a little sparse right now (understatement) so it would be good to start it up here. Not sure if what I'm saying makes sense.
  12. WOW. That is freaking cool.
  13. SO! It's Chaos's Birthday! May he continue to rule over the forum with an iron fist love and compassion! Post your wishes for him here!
  14. turned the tables. I mean this literally, with an actual turntable. Unless you want to contradict it, that's good too.
  15. I don't really think that the realms correspond to the solid, gaseous, or liquid forms of their power. It's just raw shard power focused into physical form. Preservation used his cognitive aspect to create Ruin's prison so that the power would be intact for someone like Vin or Sazed to use. But it still was able to be used as physical power like what Rashek did. So it seems, to me at least, that turning an aspect of a Shard into physical form could result in something of any consistency. The consistency illustrates how much power it has, with liquid being the most powerful.
  16. Brandon referred to it as him taking the hard route where before he'd taken the easy, not right or wrong. That being said, yeah, him taking the Shards seems to be right. And this topic is a bit spoilery, should we get a tag on this topic?
  17. encircled by the It's freaking true, don't even mess with him. You'll come out of it wondering just how you got outlasted so thoroughly.
  18. pentacle, summoned Silus What have I done!? Being a ghost kinda sucks. I hope Chaos has good intentions in summoning me.
  19. The link doesn't work, my friend.
  20. I was playing Mass Effect and I thought of something along these lines. In Mass Effect, the key technology for FTL travel is Element Zero, or eezo, which, when charged with an electrical current, increases or decreases a mass of space-time, depending on the current. I thought that this sounded a lot like Cadmium/Bendalloy. So I thought, is this the same sort of thing? Could you, even theoretically, use these metals to create faster than light travel? Is this how space travel will work on Scadrial? I would love for it to be this way. I doubt will get more than a RAFO for a question like this.
  21. coming for the Wait, there's a story?
  22. Actually not so much. The power comes from tapping into Preservation's power. Lerasium creates a constant connection to that power that you need other metals to use. The other metals are focuses, like Commands in Awakening. Remember when Vin tapped into the mists? That was her literally absorbing Preservation's power, which superfueled her Allomancy in its gaseous form. The pool might not have anything to do with the power of Allomancy, but metal isn't the power source of Allomancy, so that isn't an effective case against it.
  23. He's said that the short story has a Bendalloy Misting in it, which makes me very excited for some Matrix-style awesomeness.
  24. away from Nicaragua Yeah, and then I DIED. If the best thing you can say about the situation is that you didn't live through it, there's something wrong with it.
  25. picnic going community Oh yeah, except for the Koloss...and the syphilis...and the DYING.
